Re: Your Funniest FIRST Experience

After West Michigan this year, we went out to applebees. I just so happened to have some buttons with me. We asked our waitress if she wanted a Piece of Flair like in the movie Office Space. She was so so confused and it was pretty funny in that situational comedy kind of way.

The second funniest thing is when after Detorit Regional we rocked a bus.
We borrow a bus from a local bussinessman. After Detorit we began to rock the bus at a resturant. We lifted the bus off it's wheels. We then pulled up in front of a grocery store where one of our team members works turned on the sound system (thats right sound system) and rocked the thing. The look of the workers was priceless. After that two days latter when the team member was at work they were talking about a group of people rocking a bus. Recently on the way to Grand Rapids regional that bus broke down we don't know if these events are related but that wouldn't be suprising for how far we rocked that thing

Re: Your Funniest FIRST Experience

'05 Buckeye Regionals.
After seeing our poor performance during practice matches, our teams 2 lead mentors decided to put me in the position of on field coach. One thing i noticed was the lack of a nice simple way to indicate to the HP that it was safe to head out to the bot.
On the drive home i was thinking about various arm motions that wouldn't be easily confused. I was thinking of gestures airport linemen use to communicate to the pilot when i came up with crossed forearms to indicate don't go, parallel forearms to go.
I did this a few times at the stoplight with this look of great joy on my face that i found something so simple yet so perfect (Hey, i was TIRED!) when i glanced over to the car next to me to see the driver giving me the "$@#$@#$@#$@# your CRAZY" look.

In any case, this simple arm motion worked great, and ended up becoming sorta a team high five.

I also screwed up the YMCA the first time when me and the HP ran out to the YMCA line in front of the field during the field malfunction at Buckey on Sunday. i also led a conga line around the field with our teams flag, but those were more personal funny moments!

Re: Your Funniest FIRST Experience

If you ask ANYONE on team 11 what the funniest thing to happen last year was, I'm positive you'll hear about "The Sprite Incident" but I don't find it that funny... well I was the one being laughed at so thats probably the reason

Last year at the Palmetto Regional team social on Friday, all the teams were in this court yard eating pizza and drinking soda together. The bottles of Sprite were in these garbage cans all over the courtyard with ice, and there was a sheet wrapped around the can so that it didn't look so ugly. At one point a couple people i was sitting with had finished their sodas and I offered to get some more for them. I walked over to the sodas, pulled up the sheet to make sure their were wheels, and then started to pull it over near my team (it was about 30 feet away). Next thing I know the sheet gets caught up in the wheel and the whole can starts to tip. I apparently made THE funniest face EVER when i tried to catch it before it hit the ground and ice and sprite bottles (which a couple exploded) went everywhere. I don't know why, but my first instinct was to run, but don't worry cause i only made it like 5 feet before slipping on some ice and falling in a bush. EVERYONE went historical and someone on my team started chanting my name (all the other teams joined in)

Don't worry, I helped clean it up, and i noticed this year they didn't have garbage cans of soda ^_^

Re: Your Funniest FIRST Experience

ive had a lot of funny moments in first, but one of the funniest this year wouldve been ship night when our pots werent working (the arm wasnt rotating enough) and (this is at 11 pm) one of our mentors who we sometimes call "the mad scientist" screams out "WE DONT HAVE ENOUGH POT!" after that 2 people laughed then the rest of us just started cracking up for like 5 minutes, our mentor hadnt realized what he had said until somebody explained it to him
