Re: pic: Close Call at GTR

Can someone tell me why the referee is measuring the tetras under the goal?
I thought the "6" rule" was only for stacked tetras on top of the goal.

Re: pic: Close Call at GTR

There are no tetras stacked on top of this goal.. Therefore the highest tetra WITHIN the goal gets control. SO I'm guessing that 1/2" determined the winner of that match (rows and all that jazz)

Since there are no tetras stacked, the highest contained tetra determines ownership of the goal.

The refs are trying to determine which tetra is higher.

Re: pic: Close Call at GTR

Is it even possible for a tetra going on it's diagonal like that to be taller than a normally standing tetra, even with that extra inch from the base of the goal?

theoretically no....thanks to symmetry....in FIRST though why not...thank chaos theory...seriously though, no it couldnt unless its resting above the plane of the floor in some manner we cannot see.

Who ended up controlling the goal?

Correct me if im wrong, but yes, if the blue tetra is on a slant (like it is) then the far left apex could be higher than the top of the red tetra.

Plus it does look like the blue tetra is resting on the metal beam, so that adds height....

Re: pic: Close Call at GTR

This was during our match (or bot is on the left edge of the pic). The ruling was that both tetras were at the same height, so no alliance owned the goal.

Re: pic: Close Call at GTR

As you can see, I was there and saw that believe it or not, the highest point on both tetras was exactly the same.

Re: pic: Close Call at GTR

Neither tetra owned the goal...the two were at EXACTLY the same height. (I'm the referee on the far right). We had another tricky call when one robot missed being in the end zone by about 1/16" (we had to use a sheet of paper to check).

Re: pic: Close Call at GTR

Hmm.. That seems like a pretty original referee call, measuring tetras under the goal... From the perspective of the picture, though, it looks like the red tetra may be higher... Which alliance managed to win the match?

I can't help but notice the look on the measuring referee's face , he looks pretty determined .
