We'll be starting work on the video and the Hall of Fame redesign this week. We have alot of time between now and the championship with no competitions to go to between then.

Re: Where do you submit Chairmans? Why?

Team 116 is presenting at the Cheasapeak regional. Since we arnt going to VCU this year and is the only regional we are attending. Also we have been there every year and since its not week one it gives more time to practice or touch up our presentation.

Re: Where do you submit Chairmans? Why?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there hasn't been a Canadian Team to win a Chairman's at an American regional. We have thought about applying at an American regional, but probably are disadvantaged whether it be politics or the fact judges are more likely to give the award to a local team. The day will come when we win it at an American regional!

No it has everything to do with years and consistency of excellence, and GP. At no point does it have anything to do with politics or judges favoring anyone. I don't know but I will check if a Canadian team has won Chairmans in America and just the opposite.

I'd have to disagree Oliver. Team 1114 submitted in Long Island last year and received great reviews. The judges were very impressed with the submission, and were honoured that we chose to spread our message in Long Island. FIRST judges have awarded RCAs to non local teams in the past, and I don't see why a Canadian team would be any different.

This year Team 1114 is submitting in Waterloo. The regional is the new "home base" for the NiagaraFIRST.org teams, so we figured it was the most appropriate place to submit.

Re: Where do you submit Chairmans? Why?

We (234) submitted at Central Florida. We also attended the Boilermaker Regional, but were very involved in it (sponsors as judges, members on the planning committee, etc.) and felt it was better to not submit there, just as our personal preference.

I think maybe some of the other teams that were part of the planning felt the same way - but that is my thought, not theirs.

I know it really doesn't matter that we were involved, but we felt better submitting somewhere else.

PS - great job, Krunch 79! in Florida

Re: Where do you submit Chairmans? Why?

1089 submitted at Jersey. We were very aware of our competition, and that we can't compare to teams that have many more years behind them. But we did it because that's our home, that was our starting ground, and that's the community we mostly affect. I'd love to say I know we're going to keep submitting it there, but I don't. I only hope we do.

This is exactly why Team 812 always submits to the Southern California Regional. We understand that we could go to a smaller regional to compete against less teams; however, one of the main things we stress is Team San Diego. It just wouldn't be right to talk about your home community without being at the closest regional. We want to let people see what we have done in a community that is close to them. If we submitted at a different regional, the judges and community of the regional just wouldn't be as connected.

007 has been submitting theirs to the Chesapeake Regional since 2003, mainly because it is our home regional. We love it there, and we're well-known at the Regional, so we're confident in sending it there instead of a Regional we're hardly known at. We have not won Chairman's yet, but we are extremely confident that we will very soon.

We have not had the problem of choosing between one Regional over the other, but if we had to, we would look at the factors of being well-known, what teams are there, how many rookies there are, etc. It mostly depends on statistics...for me anyway. =)

Re: Where do you submit Chairmans? Why?

I know on Team 341 we have a strong sense of HOME. We feel that we have two regional homes Philly and Chesapeake. Although I see nothing wrong with submitting to remote regionals, I think our team needs to feel a connection to the Regional they are submitting too.

We have been to Chesapeake all 3 years of its existence. We attend the Maryland State Fair Competition and volunteer there. We work closely with Mike Wade and Pete Baltzell for Ramp Riot and other off-season events.

I could be wrong about this, but I don't think the kids would ever want to submit somewhere that was not Philly or Chesapeake.
