I keep seeing FVC on things (like the agenda) but can't find any info about it, so what is it?

Re: FVC

I think FVC is FIRST VEX Challenge. There is a forum here on the subject.

You are correct. Some people have been calling it Vex or Vex Challenge but at the WPI scrimmage they told us that they want people to call it FIRST Vex Challenge because that is the official name. The reason for this is because a lot of people may forget that it is a part of FIRST and not solely Radio Shack.

Okay... ...well and good... Now comes another question.

Why are the team numbers given to FIRST Vex Challenge teams FRV-##?

From HERE we see:

Quote:
FRC = FIRST Robotics Competition
FLL = FIRST Lego League
FRV = FIRST Robotics Vex
And in fact this exact queston is raised in that same thread above here, but still not a satisfactory answer to my mind.

FIRST issued the FRV-## numbers. Why not FCV-##? Don't Know.

I have been wondering that myself. I don't recieve any of the emails the teams get so I don't know if FIRST has been emailed them saying they were team FRV ### or FRC ###. I do have this insight to offer though. In their scoring software the teams are referenced as FRC as you can see in the attachment.

You mean FVC.

The FIRST rep at the scrimmage also told us that the competition should always be referred to as "FIRST Vex Challenge", so I'm not sure where FRV came from.
