I think I will need to bring earplugs for next week, and lots of throat lozenges.

And that's coming from my teammate? Oh wait, she's part of that... what do you call it? oh yeah, the PIT CREW, the ones you only see a few times during a competition because they're goofing off under the pretense of actually WORKING ON THE ROBOT!!!

It appears that Keiko173 will have to work extra hard to earn her Personal Recognition button. :

Actually, Tiffany, this idea was one of those born out of a brainstorming session.

Like many others, we give out Team Awards such as our clapping MOEstix Team Spirit trophy, but every year at Championships we see many examples of positive FIRST behavior that really do not fall into a "team" catgegory. The behavior is usually more individual in nature; acts of courtesy or assistance toward one another, the enthusiastic spirit leader(s) of a team, the impromptu activities that bring folks from different teams together, etc. These all contribute to the great event and the party atmosphere that we enjoy each year, and make it three wonderfully hectic days.

Because the actions are individual, we thought the recognition should reflect that as well. We decided to charge ourselves with the task of personally recognizing individual actions that we feel contribute positively to the FIRST community. The buttons are a visual symbol that someone from our team observed behavior that would "Make Your Grandmother Proud."

Will we be able to officially recognize all the positive FIRST behaviors in Atlanta? No, that is an impossible task for any team, even one as large as the Miracle Workerz. We hope and encourage other teams to join in the task of recognizing positive individual actions at the Championship, and if they have time, create a button, ribbon or other visual symbol to commemorate the recognition.

Who knows, if all teams worked together on this task, maybe we could officially recognize all the behaviors that make this FIRST community so great.

Hey, i'm out there for all our matches, and yelling and screaming!! Besides there's always enough noise in the pits that you need to yell to hear each other. And tell me, who exactly would fix the robot without your pit crew? While FIRST has great ideas like gracious professionalism, it's hard to compete without a robot

the honor of such a button would make me SUPER happy, but i don't know how I'll get it.
Anyone is FREE to come to our pit at almost ANY time to ask for help. We have more engineers than we need (they keep tinkering with the robot, when it needs no tinkering) so by all means, if you have something you want some help with, come ask!! We almost never say no!! You choice, kids or adult, we're all pretty smart, and totally willing to help.

I wish you guys went to Chesapeake... I think in all the years I have been involved in FIRST and from all the videos I have seen of my team in the passed, this year at the Chesapeake Bay Regional we were the craziest we have ever been... Constantly running around screaming and dancing, spirit chants to random people and teams, of course the usual cheering during our matches... It was probably one of the best trips I have ever been on in my entire life... But I plan for my team to top that in Atlanta...

Re: Earn Your MOE 365 Personal Recognition Button in Atlanta!

I can vouch that A)Lisa and our pit crew deserve a MOE button at every event we go to and B)TJ2 and the other teams were having SOOO much fun at Chesapeake.... it will always be one of my favorite memories of FIRST.

RAGE has taken MOE's advice to heart (GREAT IDEA!) and has also made some special buttons to recognize Gracious Professionalism.
