CT & MA teams needed for RI Robotics Expo!

Hey everyone!

As president of the University of Rhode Island Robotics Club, I’m pleased to announce the Inaugural URI FIRST Robotics Expo (name still being determined). The expo is a chance for our club and local FRC teams to spread FIRST robotics throughout URI and the state of Rhode Island. We will be inviting all of the URI engineering and computer science departments as well as any other professors who are interested. We feel that a showing of just one robot is not enough to fully convey the spirit and excitement of FIRST. That’s why I am inviting any team in the tri-state area to join us during this expo to show off their robot and their team.

Not only will URI professors attend, but we will be inviting the engineering and technology undergrads. We will also be inviting local high schools and hopefully spark interest in teachers and students to possibly start VEX or FRC teams. But we can’t to this alone! That’s why we need a bunch of Connecticut and Massachusetts teams to come and participate. Here’s some info on the event.

When: Thursday September 29, 2005

Time: 11-3

Where: Memorial Union Ballroom at the University of Rhode Island

Max # of teams: 6

A bunch of great teams to help at this expo come to mind immediately: 88, 126, 190, 195, 237, and 1350. The team we are mainly associated with, the RhodeWarriors (121) will be there along with at least 1, but possibly 2-3 robots from past years.

Other things we need to make this event spectacular is the following:

*2005 playing field pieces (mainly tetras).

*A carpet suitable for running robots on.

*Any pictures or movies from this or past seasons.

*Any suggestions about how we could improve the event!!!

So if your team is interested, PM me or email the club at URIrobotics@hotmail.com. Respond soon so that you can secure a spot at this great event. See you there!

-Rick “Ricksta” Blight
