Re: AP Tests Loom

I took AP Physics this year just because I like physics. I'm taking the test next week but I'm not going to kill myself over it.
If I wanted college credit for physics I would have taken a community college class. It's much easier that way.

Re: AP Tests Loom

One test down. The AP Calc was easy save one question, so I'm not worried at all.

Now I only need to get AP Physics out of the way.

But man... over four hours of just sitting there... Now that was killer.

Re: AP Tests Loom

AP Chem next Tuesday, and seeing how it's the only AP offered for sophomores at my school, it's all I've got. Unfortunately, our AP Chem teacher has a bad record for his students' performance on the AP...two fives in twelve years or something like that. My friend's sister took 8 AP exams during her high school career and got 5s on all of them except for chem...so I'm a little worried.

Re: AP Tests Loom

In our school, you can not get into the AP's until Junior year. The few available then are; US history, Bio, Chem, Comp/Sci, and Statistics.

I'm taking History and Stats this year, have yet to study...woops. Next year though, im upping my load to 5; Psych, Physics, Calc, Poli Sci, and another science or Social Studies(can not remember which one i selected.)

I'm definitely not going to kill myself over this, i just wanna take it easy and see what i get, doesnt matter what. I figure if i do bad, i can just take the class in college if i wanted to.

Considering I've taken most of those and have friends in the others... famous last words. All I'm saying.

Same at our school, only we must have considerably less than your school. I think we only have Language, Literature, Chem, Calc, Biology, Physics, Spanish, French, Latin and Art. I'm not sure if we have kids taking all of them this year. I'm also pretty sure you'd max out at 4 APs, senior year. There's no way i'd ever make 8 in my high school career.

It's a shame we don't have Comp Sci AP at our school

Re: AP Tests Loom

What's IB? I keep hearing people talking about it but I've never seen it.

And Comp Sci? I took it. Interesting, but strange in a way. The choose to teach Java instead of C++, which is good as Java is cross-OS, but it tends to be used more for web applications- yet you never use it for a web application in the class.

IB is the International Baccalaureate program. It supposedly has international appeal if you're planning on going to school out-of-country.
The IBO's program is very ironic, in my opinion, because it requires volunteer hours (when you require it its not really volunteering....). I'm not a big fan of it because, aside from the things I've heard from my friends' parents, its been pushed too hard in our school and we dont even have a very good langauge program (one of IB's focuses is internationalism and thus language), having only 3 different, western languages at present.

it's allowed to be present in each county of your state..it's a program that can be started as a preschooler up to 12th grade...

you have to test out in math, science of some sort, English, a foreign language, and 6th subject (can be like art, computer science, anthropology, etc.)
and you do cas--which is creativity, action and service

service is u'r volunteering
action basically yeah working out, running around...getting exercise
creativity..yeah...using other side of u'r brain

each school has a different program but guide lines are the same...test out in may for each subject with different amount of tests aka papers and you have to write certain things or do certain things for each class...internal and external assessments....internal while in class...external end of the year tests...

hope that helps a bit....it's all around...

go IB!!!
either love it or hate it basically...some say it's like ap..tad different tad the same..lol

getting the diploma yes can allow you to go out of like the us for school since its a recognized standard diploma for the world rather than a normal us high school diploma
it helps for us in Florida if we get our diploma full bright futures scholorship money if we don't already qualify for it and like ap can get you out of a few classes if you score high enough... 4 is passing 7 is the highest...

and i'm almost out of it lol...few more tests to go and i'm done...i hope i get my diploma pray that i do for me
if your in IB i feel u'r pain....

For all of you on the east coast talking about how fast your class goes, keep this in mind: My school did not start until September 7th. So yeah, we go at a desperate pace all year.

September 9th, with a June 29th graduation date. I have a month and a half, not EVEN, before I go off to college.

I saw, I raised. Your move

Re: AP Tests Loom

-prays for Tiffany and other IB students- i keep hearing from the IB Juniors and Seniors about how apprehensive they are about their exams coming up... luckily i'm not a junior or a senior yet, so no IB exams for me, but i do have AP Government and Politics coming up next week, along with AP Macroeconomics. I'm not that worried about Gov't, i just need to refresh my memory since i took that class back in '04... we actually ended up skipping an entire unit on Public Policy because of the hurricanes, but other than just having to learn a few new things this week, i think i'll be okay.. i'm a little more worried about Macro. its my first period class, and due to robotics and various other things that have come up (like SHARP interviews and doctor appointments), i've missed a lot in that class, so i've got quite a bit of catching up to do in the next... 9 days or so. (yay for Princeton Reviews though! ... thats what i'll be trying to memorize in the next few days..)

ooo.. i also heard that same thing about the AP Language exam... the people i talked to who took it said it was easy, but in a completely different format than how they had practiced. i guess maybe this year the College Board decided to change things?

i guess i'm kinda lucky at my school... seniors graduate in about a week or two, and my last day is May 24. but then again, my school year starts in early August, so that sorta gives us a somewhat headstart in studying... however trying to make up lost time because of hurricanes every other weekend isnt easy.. especially when the make-up days end up in the wrong semesters >.<

good luck on all of your upcoming tests (AP or IB or even just normal exams) everyone!

August 25th - June 14th here. I don't think the problem is so much about our class moving fast as much as...not moving at all. We got back from Feb. break and were basically told we had two days per chapter. Whereas all of the other non-ap sophomore chemistry classes get to watch the first season of Alias on DVD, we have to work. With any luck, that'll change after the exam.
