What? No lock-in? It's really fun... twenty-four hours in San Diego... among so many great FIRST people! Still looks like the scrimmage will be incredible though....
See you in two and a half weeks!

Re: The San Diego Lock-in and Scrimmage

For whoever is running the event (particularly the matches and sound system) I have the actual audio files that FIRST uses for the matches (starting sound "charge", ending sound "buzzer", and field fault "fog blast") If you want them, let me know.

Can we make a rule that they are never allowed to play on the same alliance? Not to single out 980 but I'm just saying one of them is bad (in a good way) enough. If there are twins now we are in for TOTAL DOMINATION! All I can hope for is that we get on that alliance instead of having to go against it. /me is scared

Re: The San Diego Lock-in and Scrimmage

Two 980s vs. 330 would be highly entertaining.

Unfortunately, due to a lack of interest, we will not be going to San Diego. However, we will be at JPL this weekend for at least one day. Hope to see everybody there!

Dont forget that you would need a whole different drive team to operate the second robot...
Still would be cool to see them on the same alliance

While we appreciate the confidence you have in us, I would like to point out that of the 4 operators on the 2 drive teams, only 1 is an experienced operator, and he won't be in his normal role.

Re: The San Diego Lock-in and Scrimmage

The lock-in was entertaining at first. I was sleeping near the door in the gym. If you were at the kareoke (i can't spell that) and you walked into the gym at the nearest door, i was sleeping right there witht the rest of our team. i sorta slept, but the kareoke was horrible, at like 3 in the morning some chick was singing and she sounded drunk. regardless, the competition was great. i was on team 1457(16 as their numbers went), and we came 6th during the qualifying. and no, i don't know about a silver xbox controller, sorry.

The kareoke sounds fun. What songs did they have?

Team San Diego would like to thank all of the teams that came out for the SD Battle at the Border! We hope to see you all (and more!) teams next year.

Please feel free to give me your constructive advice on how the event can be even better next year!

We still have Team San Diego Battle at the Border T-Shirts on sale for $6. Get them while they last!!!!!

I would gladly pay an increase in registration fee if there were some large industrial fans as each door of the gym. It was so incredibly hot in there, must have been 90+. I think the only reason I wouldn't want to go again is that the heat was unbearable. Also, I think the cold sodas ran out before the end of the day, so next year maybe plan on more. The big projector screen was great, but it was so dim that it kind of defeated the purpose of having it so big. I stood right in front of it and couldn't read the rankings, so maybe next year a smaller but brighter screen would be better. Sounds for start of match, end of auto, and end of match would be good. The field was pretty good, but if there were a couple safety issues with the lack of pressure pads and side lexan panels.

Overall, it was a good event and I hope more teams attend next year!
