3ds max 7 installation problems

I finally got around to installing 7 last week on our robotics laptop, however it has a 1311 error and it says it can't find a .exe file on the cd. It installs fine when on one of the other school computers, so I took it to our network admin and she said the laptop was too fast to install this program but seeing that the computer is 2 years old I doubt that would be the problem, and I have never heard of a computer being too fast.
