Milwaukee Regional

So I was wondering what the latest talk about a new regional coming to Milwaukee is? I have been hearing about it adamently now for awhile. Personally it would be great to get one in that area, maybe to even volunteer with it, as I am looking to become more involved in that aspect of FIRST. So, what is the word on the street?

Re: Milwaukee Regional

I would most certainly come to Milwaukee for a regional to volunteer if my team wasn't competing the same weekend.

I would email some kind of regional coordinator to get help, if I were you.

I know for a fact that the dates for Nationals have been pushed back another week for next year, so it is possible new regionals could be added.

That could be REALLY bad for all of the Illinois Team Juniors... The Prairie State Achievement Exams are that week... For all of you from other states those are the mandatory ACTs and the tests for No Child Left Behind...

Re: Milwaukee Regional

Not to mention it pushes championships back to the week before AP testing. That would be bad news for many students.

Re: Milwaukee Regional

Back on topic about the Milwaukee Regional. Apparently FIRST and the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) have been having discussions on hosting a regional as soon as 2006. Last I heard FIRST and MSOE were working out venue and financing issues.

Hopefully it will happen.

Re: Milwaukee Regional

I would be up for a Milwaukee regional. I think it would be one heck of a fun time. Just as long as it isn't on BMR weekend it shouldn't really affect my team that much. We vote for the regionals we attend, and Milwaukee would probably get pushed into the final few to choose from. Even if we couldn't go as a team, I would think about going with out my team.

Re: Milwaukee Regional

It'd be nice to have a regional so close to home ... I wouldn't have to rent a hotel room at all!

Correct. They have been available on the website for GWCC for quite some time now. However, FIRST has it reserved for more time than that...they seem to have it reserved for that whole week, so there will be lots of setup stuff giong on apparently, or maybe it's for FIRST Conference '06. Either way, that still backs everything up a week, leaving possible room for new regionals.
