Re: CALLING ALL GEEKS! HELP!
Does your computer beep(POST) when you turn it on? Also, does it beep more than once?
P.S. I pesonally prefer the term nerd. |

Re: CALLING ALL GEEKS! HELP!
Nope I am not getting any beeps from my hardware... I also do not think its booting into windows. My reason for this is because after I let it sit for a min, then I go to hit the power button (to turn the machine off)... and it just hangs

Re: CALLING ALL GEEKS! HELP!
Sounds like a hardware problem if it is not booting or posting. Have you installed any new hardware recently?

Re: CALLING ALL GEEKS! HELP!
i'm also saying a hardware problem, particularly a motherboard or video card problem. I'd start checking my warranties

Re: CALLING ALL GEEKS! HELP!
remove hard drive, backup everything on another computer before carrying on.
Check for anything loose inside.... i lost graphics when the fan fell off the graphics card and it shut itself down for overheating.... and on a semi funny note.... according to http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ballard/bofh/bofhserver.pl The cause of the problem is: Quantum dynamics are affecting the transistors |

Re: CALLING ALL GEEKS! HELP!
This just happened to a friend of mine, not sure exactly how I fixed it but here's what I did.
I took out the battery (It sit out for 2 days) and took out the processor and reseated EVERYTHING. RAM, Vid Card, Cables, etc. Then it magically booted, but gave a CMOS Checksum error on the first boot. |
