Re: XBox 360
I think it's important to remember that Sony has unveiled far more information about their hardware architecture than Microsoft has. Saying that PS3 will be faster is premature.
In fact more SPEs, threads per CPU, or CPUs does not indicate that the games will be any better; all it means is developers will have more processing power available to them. To take advantage of this new power developers will have to write their software with multiple software threads. Currently, most games are written to run in a single thread. Games that have been written in two threads for multiple CPU computers have shown a negligible performance gain. The real problem is not general purpose CPU power. That's why the original Xbox could get away with a 700MHz Celeron. The bottleneck in today's games are the GPUs. The console with the better designed GPU will have the best games. XBox 360 and Poor Image Quality- At the E3 trade show Xbox games are not running on console hardware they are being run on Apple Powermac G5s. Image quality will be better when the Xbox is delivered. I believe that there are two main reasons why the demos looked cruddy with the G5 1. There are basically running a 10 year old OS with little modifications to it 2. I think that the GPU isn't even being used, and that all the graphics are being produced by the CPU instead. Those demo boxes were running a special version of Windows NT for the PPC. These version of Windows NT was shortly discontinued right after NT was announced around 10 years ago. Since its such an old operating system, it probably doesn't take advantage of a lot of the G5's features. I also believe that the graphics cards are not even being used in these demos (except to draw the image). The video cards in Macs are built only for OpenGL, and not DIRECT X. The DIRECT X then must have been done by the CPUs But of course nothing runs as well as on the real thing . |

Re: XBox 360
If you have a 360 you can make a killing on ebay right now as they are going for about 1,100 a piece. Going to get mine on Friday for the second shipment and sell it on ebay. just from the profit i could buy a pretty good LCD monitor, some games and accessories.

Re: XBox 360
It's almost as profitable as Tickle Me Elmo!
That's crazy, people will pay that much for a gaming system that you can wait a couple of months and pay 1/2 or a 1/3 as much as you bought it for. Or you can go into the store and play them for free! |

Re: XBox 360
Has anyone here had any problems with their Xbox 360? There's been reports of crashing. I just wanted to get a feel for how widespread the problem is.

Re: XBox 360
I wish I remeber where I heard this rumor, but a store only got 5 360s, but specifically told their employees not to tell anyone in the 200 person and growing line...so only the first 5 people got one. I have to say I wouldda been a little upset. But I think the people who really wanted one would have reserved one...like they would for the release of any other popular item.
On another note...If 360s are going for the much on ebay, imagine the PS3 hype...I definitely might considering buying one or two and just ebaying them. |

I found this surfing the net ehh ill wait a year or two. Microsoft rushed that thing out. I think Sony is playing it smart taking their time to develop the PS3. I doubt the PS3 will have many problems. I bought a PSP and its running well no problems so far! Microsoft can do better than this! Last edited by jason_931 : 26-11-2005 at 03:59. |

The store makes an announcement that they will not be selling the XBOX's after all, and the police make all folks leave. One hour after they leave, the XBOX's are put out on the shelves and sold quickly. No, I wasn't standing outside waiting for one of these prized units. I was about 4 blocks up on top the hill comfortably watching some old movies on the television. Elkton is famous for its' Wedding Chapel, and is referred to in many movies from the 30's and 40's. The town slogan is "Memories are made in Elkton". I guess memories were made that night also, but not really very pleasant ones.
