IE PNG fix

I just found this a few days ago and my CSS question reminded me. Don't know if you've seen this before:

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/bobosola/

Javascript to fix IE's PNG alpha transparency problem. Even no-JS purists shouldn't complain.

Re: IE PNG fix

http://webfx.eae.net/dhtml/pngbehavior/pngbehavior.html - this is what I use a lot to get around the PNG problems w/ IE, but soon that won't be a problem since it will be fixed in IE7

Yep... but only XP SP2 will get IE7, so we could be waiting a while.

Looks like the two methods are pretty much the same. The nice thing about the one I liked to is you just have to put the JS in the head/link to it and it automatically finds and fixes all PNGs, whereas yours requires you to mark it in a special way.

Re: IE PNG fix

Not that long. The beta for IE7 is coming very soon (so long as you have XP).

The next IE will be giving Firefox a run for its money, matching it pretty much feature for feature (tabs included). If it's finally better, I'll drop Firefox like it's hot... though I have my reservations about that prospect.

But. This doesn't mean you should stop coding for IE6 and lower anytime soon. If the time it took for IE6 to propogate was any indication, using alpha channel transparent PNGs now by themselves is a bad idea.
