Cross-browser drop down menu problems

I'm currently working on a PHP project, but got bored (), so I decided to spruce up the interface some. (You've seen it before at this thread.) The problem I'm having right now is with CSS drop down menus, as described at Stu Nicholls' website.

The problem I'm having right now is with IE (of course ). The menus drop down correctly, but don't stay open when you move down to click something. You can view an example page using my layout (just ripped the output from a page) at http://jfy.homeunix.net/misc/example.html. (The main CSS is at http://jfy.homeunix.net/includes/stylesheets/normal.css and the drop down menu part is at http://jfy.homeunix.net/includes/sty...sing_menus.css

There's also the fact that the first menu doesn't open unless you go all the way to the left, but that's a whole different story. There is a div (empty in that example page) which would cover it. I may have to change the z-index on the menu. Feel free to suggest on that, but I'll work on it.

I also noticed that on Safari 2 (Tiger), there's a problem with the left option menu when scrolling down. It's under the bold "Users:" and the "Additional Stylesheets" captions on the left.

I've taken a screenshot and posted it at my site:
