I think his movies are entertaining, and generally my political views are similar to his.

I don't think you can watch one of his movies, take everything at face value, and consider yourself informed on the issues he presents. Like any filmmaker, he's presenting only one side to the story-one very biased side.

Good "thinking" entertainment-bad singular source of information.

I agree Cory. While he does bring up many points to look at that everyone should, his outcome in terms of opinions or bias shouldn't necessaraly be yours. But remember, Robin Hood steals from the rich to give to the poor and is a great story and moral lesson, but it's not a documentary by any standards as the view of the rich and their reasons arn't listed or described. Apply that here too.

As for the first question, fan, no, supporter, his 1st ammendment rights, yes, and someone who watches his movies, enjoys them, and wants to see others, yes.

I'm a big fan of his work in Team America:World Police, Fahrenheit 9/11 was pretty good too, a bit extreme but it was still good.

Um, he didn't direct Team America. He only does documentaries. That was Matt Stone and Trey Parker.

Yeah, I'm a fan of Michael Moore, I like his style of documentary and my political views are aligned with his.

Ah, not quite.... Michael Moore's films aren't documentaries, they're editorials. They present his opinions, not objective facts.

he just makes you think about various issues which is pretty cool....

The 60% of the net profits going to charity is actually from Disney's share of the profits, not from Michael Moore's own money. He actually did make that much (relative to the normal take of a director/producer of a $100 million plus grossing movie) on the movie. On the other hand, he actually does give quite a bit of money and his own time to organizations which help the poor and to other causes.

I am not sure what the quotation marks around poor were supposed to signify, but I am hoping not a disdain for there actually being poor people who need help. There are actually quite a few poor people in this country.

I completely agree that Mr. Moore's movies are not balanced and objective. They are editorials. This does not necessarily mean they are not also documentaries. Being a documentary just means presenting facts. There is really nothing about making a documentary that requires objectivity. In fact many if not most documentaries are attempts to prove a point and are inherently editorial in nature.

I don't particularly care for his style of political persuasion, though I do think he has a lot of talent for humor and makes movies that people like to watch. If you are going to use humor to "go for the jugular" I think satire is better medium.
