Re: Top 3 Days in your Team's History

I'm not sure if our team has had any of the major, life-shaping achievements that Dave had in his post yet - we're only four years old, so the freshmen that joined in our first year are still on the team, albiet only for one more competition.

In that first year, we won the Rookie All Star at Great Lakes, Western Michigan, and Nationals. I joined the team in the next year, so I wasn't able to experience that, but those are all proud moments.

The best moment that I've seen in my three years on the team came last year, at Palmetto. Team 507 arrived at the competition with a chassis, no programming, two adult mentors, and a handful of students. We spent the competition with them, helping them to finish their robot and becoming friends in the process. They even beat our robot in one of their matches against us.

That would have been enough for me, but we won the Sportsmanship award because of our time with 507.

September 2004: 1568 recieved 10,000 dollars (Thank You Raytheon) and was offically started... thanks to Cooley Group for the space.
UTC 2005: 1568 became the highest rookie seed and the 8th alliance captains, the same day with help from 809 in two matches capped all 9 goals for scores in the 90's
June 18, 2005: 1568 performed even better than at UTC at battlecry 6

Re: Top 3 Days in your Team's History

3. 2001 Mid Atlantic regional probably when we won the regional with 175 75 and someone else i dunno who it was or 2001 when we won Philadelphia with 365 103 and 316 one of those two was our first regional win.

2. 2004 Mid Atlantic regional we seeded 3rd and were picked by the #1 seed 237 a team that helped up out in 1998 when our town was flooded they sent goods to our town to help the recovery efforts and won the regional with the help of 303's fridge as well

1. 2005- Championship event went through qualification rounds with just 1 loss and seeded 2nd in the Galileo division where we picked 254 and 64 went on to win the Galileo Division, then beat the Curie division and lost in the finals to 330 67 and 503 and became Championship Finalist

Re: Top 3 Days in your Team's History

2003 - Won the Chesapeake as a Rookie Team and advanced to the Championship in Houston

Sat Mar 19 2005 - Set the new world record high score at that time of 121, we had broken the old record with a 120 on Mar 18, went on to win the Chesapeake with 173 and 53

Sat Apr 23 2005- Wound up 30th in standings of Archimedes Division, got picked in the final picking spot to join the 8th Seeded Alliance at the 2005 FIRST Championship. That Championship was something I will never forget.

Re: Top 3 Days in your Team's History

Since I don't see anyone from from 639 posting, I'll take the honors.

1. 2004 Canadian Regional: we went 8-0 in qualifying, but due to "wardrobe malfunction" (banner getting caught in our treads) we had a low QP that round which brought our average down and ultimately landed us in 2nd place. We struggled all the way to the finals, playing 3 games in every round. During finals, our robot got twisted on the bar and our hanging mechanism was totally broken. 33 Killer Bees bailed us out of that one was some amazing shooting. We sat out the 2nd round to try to repair our bot, and in the end it was repaired and we went into the last round and won by a few balls. It was the first regional we've ever won and it shocked us all.

2. We were so short of money in 2005 that we barely made it by to sign up for FLR. After we won, we went to dinner, where our "robo-mom", told us that we were going to GTR because two mentors both pledged enough money from their companies for us to go. After we go back, our principal gave us money, Teams 340 and 73 offered us a large sum of the money that they raised for us to go to Championships, we got support from our school district, and all this support just started pouring from the community. Before we knew it, we were going to GTR and Championships and thinking seriously about starting another team in our area. We made the transition into a true veteran team this year.

3. My teammates may disagree with me on this one, but IMHO 2002 (Zone Zeal)Canadian Regional takes the cake for number three. I came in as a finalist that year, but it definitely surprised all of us that a 2nd year team could pull such a feat off. We were ranked 7th after qualifying and all the rest of the events went by so quickly that I have no idea how we made it to the finals. In finals 1.3, in the last 5 seconds, our ally shot back its tether at the home zone, but only to be short about a couple of inches. We were all stunned at how well we did. That definitely sealed the deal for every new member that year to come back.

Re: Top 3 Days in your Team's History

This is one very hard task here to accomplish!!!
Thinking of the top 3 things that have happend in your teams history, now that is hard!!! Well let me say this, I have seen it all!!! All ten years of the Cybersonics season!!! Everything!!! Well just because my parents are the advisors of our team and because I have worked on the teams for 4 years now!!!
So here it is:

2001-( I think the year is correct) We won one of our first regionals, and it was in the city of Brotherly Love, Thats right PHILLY!!!

2003- It took us a while, but we won our first regional chairmans award at New Jersey, and then in the same year won the National Chairman's in Houston, Texas!!!

2005- We won the New Jersey Regional in Trenton, and we won our first ever National Inventor award!!!
Ohhh(how could i forget)...i am going over 3... 2004- New Jersey, my dad won Woody Flowers, it was well deserved too!!!lol
Every year just keeps getting better and better, with more people to meet, more people to become friends with, and more experiences to gain from!!!
FIRST is great, in all it helps to build not only robots, but people too!!!

P.S From a personal perspective, how could i for get this one:
Summer of 2002-New Hamshire- I met this girl, she said she was from New York, we talked and talked and well are now best friends!!!!!!!!!! See, if it was not for FIRST this rare bond of friendship would have never occured, and i would have never met this person i now call my BEST Friend!!!!!

Re: Top 3 Days in your Team's History

March 4,5 and 6, 2004

We had shipped off the robot thinking that we might pull off top 20.

4th- Saw we had a chance of seeding
5th- Ranked #1 (or 2nd, can't remember)

Between the days...Norowalk Plaque hits...takes out Primary shooter and puts drivers at risk.

6th- Pulled down to 2nd, got to finals, lost by 3seconds

Top 3 days for 616 in my opinion

VCU competition of 2004.
day one- robot did really well in prelims
day two- most of team spared by Norowalk stomach plague, robot climbs its way into 11th place
day three- 3rd place alliance, beaten only by the guys who went on to win everything. *i think*

it was a blast.

Re: Top 3 Days in your Team's History

1. Saturday at Nationals, 2003 - We won our first Division at Nationals, in addition to winning the Entrepreneurship award.

2. Saturday at Philadelphia, 2003 - We won the first of three consecutive Regional Chairman's Awards (a steak we hope continues!).

3. Saturday at Nationals, 2005 - We won a National Judge's Award, National Chairman's Runner-Up, and our friends on the Vex team from Singapore brought home Vex's highest prize.

Runner Up (not really a Top day itself but one that would be indicative of the future of our team): Ramp Riot 1, 2000 - The team hosted one of the first off-season competitions in the area for the first time. Since then, the event has grown to twice the size but is still the hilight of our offseason every year.
