Is there any type of adapter we can put on the RS232 end of the cable that will make it work as a DCE?

As for wiring the TTL end, I had already looked at that diagram and switched the pins around to correspond with the TTL port on the FRC, but thanks anyway for pointing that out

Yes our cable supports handshaking but no we are not using that feature. We got a cable that supported it just in case the team happens to need it in the future. Is not using the handshaking going to cause a problem for the adapter?
Your cable is designed to interface to a computer. You should be able to write code for the FRC controller and plug your cable from the FRC port 2 to the serial port on a computer and get communications established. DO THIS FIRST and get a basis that you know at least 1/2 of the communications works...

Be sure that the PC's serial port is set to 9600 baud and beware Hyperterminal (HT has issues...)!

After that, you can use the red tether cable in series with your TTL/232 cable to go between the FRC controller port 2 and your proto board.

Good luck...

Mike
