Go to Post Anyone know anything about a missing plastic flamingo from NASA HQ? I should mention before you answer that tampering with federal property, even if it's weird stuff from (Dave's) office, is punishable by painful delivery of ChiefDelphi negative rep points. - Rich Kressly [more]

Could you explain your arm/winch? I see rope, chain, and gears, and I'm not sure what they do, but it does look very cool.

Re: pic: 623's arm

That looks very nice. I see a camera onboard. Were you able to track the vision tetra using it during autonomous?

Re: pic: 623's arm

I just realized i forgot to rotate the picture before i posted it! Anyway as i said the arm utilizes a geared cable system (more recommended than rope )

bought from http://sdp-si.com. This worked remarkably well. We used a window motor to lift and lower our arm and another one in the back to rotate the pulley. Overall this system was amazingly light (except for the giant U piece of aluminum which wasn't really needed). We could track with the camera just didn't have the time to write a program interfacing it with the motors but we are working on one now!
