I agree with your post. I appreciate being able to choose what I wish to wear. What I was saying is that when you get into the "real world" (that is so cliche, isn't it?) you often DON'T have the freedom to choose. Ask your engineering mentors about what they have the "freedom" to wear at work... Yes, I have the "freedom" to get a different job, but in this job climate? You've got to be kidding. Not if I want to put food on the table and have health insurance and not uproot my family. I know so many unemployed people trying to find work these days, you're lucky to get a job interview, let alone make a decision on where you're going to work based on a dress code.
