OOOH OOOH funny story! Ever stick a peep in a vacuum? I got to watch one explode!!! It was so cool, like that James Bond show where the voodoo drug lord balloons out and explodes!

I would expect nothing less of a confection ( can that term be used in this context?) that has a shelf life of 24 years.

I'll still eat them regardless... I like the marshmallow peeps... they're fun to explode, especially at 3 in the morning.

My dad's friend is an expert on the contents of food and how to look for them (I don't know the exact details). Long story short, twinkies have more plastic in them than the wrapper does. Plus, they don't taste all that good either

One day, I was rushed for work (got out of school at 3:30 and had to be at work - across town - at 4:30) so my wonderful mother had a twinkie and a glass of milk sitting out for me when I got home, since she knew my lunch was at 10:30 am, and I wouldn't eat again until 7 pm. Eager to eat, change for work and leave. I started to scarf down the twinkie when I realized there was mold growing inside it!!!! I quickly spit my mouthful out in the sink, gagged for about a minute, changed and left for work. Later, mom told me that the package of twinkies had expired a month earlier, but since it was a twinkie, she figured it would never really "go bad".

Ever since, I've been great about checking expiration dates ... and I haven't eaten a twinkie in at least three years!
