Official Answer:
Making alternate components presents the team and the inspectors with a set of problems. These problems include the following:
- Weight of the robot must be tested and inspected for each set of end effectors.
- Safety issues for each set of end effectors must be inspected for each unit.
- Appropriate attachments, wiring, pneumatics must be done for both configurations.
All inspections occur before the start of matches. This presents problems if a team changes an arm or other component. The rules read that the robot MUST be re-inspected if major function modifications are made. Your inspectors are also the referees and will not be available to do this.
