Re: [OCCRA]: [OCCRA]: Robot spending limit?

Official Answer:

OCCRA is a competition that is very cost effective for schools. Because we have a very low tech list of additional materials it is very difficult to spend and large amount on the build. Most teams spend very little. Remember this robot is student built 100% and there are restrictions on precision machining - and the tools you can use. The inspectors are very experienced robot builders and machinists.

Please watch the additional materials list. If it is not on that list you CANNOT use it. One of the BIG items the inspectors look at is the additional materials list. This is to the letter strict!!!

Answer: There is no limit set in dollar amounts for the build. You are not required to provide a Bill of Materials. However, materials not on the additional materials list are not allowed.

Remember you may NOT use any motors that are not provided in the OCCRA kit - refer to your inventory of parts.

Warning: In the past we have had teams that grabbed materials from their FIRST kit and built their robot. They were not allowed to compete until all FIRST parts were removed and their robot was inspected as legal. READ THE RULES AND KIT OF MATERIALS AND ADDITIONAL MATERIALS LIST.

The inspectors will show NO mercy!
