Which would you want to win Battlecry or Nats?

I think Andy Grady made a good point in that is Battlecry at WPI 3 going to be bigger than Nationals. In some ways I think it is more of a bragging rights for the teams of the North East. With the talent of the Northeast teams this competition is viewed as who is the true beast from the big East. However, is it truly bigger then Nationals no, but respect wise yes and that's what these competitions are all about besides having a good time Respect. Maybe if some teams from around the U.S could come like 45, 47, 66, 71, 111, and etc. we could claim this a national event and maybe get some more points for the new scoring system.

I gotta agree with Andy too.. although nothing will replace Rumble.. Battlecry is getting up there in its ranks. So many great robots and teams in one place makes this not necessarily just a competition to win, but the competition to be at! Nationals weren't filled up just hours after opening registration, but Battlecry sure was.. and people are still calling trying to get in!

I'm a fan of the off-season because I think Nationals feel so impersonal. There are some many great people having an awesome time, I just can't wait for Battlecry to happen.

We'd love to carry home the Victor trophy again (ha, it's only one of two we're allowed to win!) because it meant we battled and survived the toughest competition.

Not to play down a National victory (that would be sweet), but I think we'd do more bragging if we took home BattleCry gold!

Best of luck to everyone.. and bring plenty of spares! This'll be rough (but the Robotics Lab will be opening for machining and stuff.. major plus!)

yea, we are bringing a lot of spares. we're bringing a whole second robot for spares like we did at mayhem. we are also rebuilding our whole drive system to make it stronger and more daurable. we have been breaking a lot of pins and shafts lately...
as for which one i'd rather win? i don't know. i'd like to win both.

Thumbs up All Star Game

Though I do agree that Battlecry is probably one of the best offseasons of the year this year just from the team list alone, I do think it still has a little ways to go before I would really say that I'd rather win it than nationals. I have often recently thought of the idea of milling up support for an offseason competition that would simply pit the best of the best against each other. This would be a invite only competition where a commitee of people from various teams would choose who gets to compete. Bottom line is I would love to see something like we had the last year of Rumble...I think it'd be alot of fun.
later,
Andy Grady

I'd have to disagree

Todd,
unfortunately i'd have to disagree with you on this one. what i think what you're saying is that winning battlecry3 would give the northeast teams more bragging rights than a national championship. i feel that no matter if you're from the northeast or naot, a national championship brings the most bragging rights there are. with a national championship, you can say you beat the best from around the world, and not just from the northeast. don't get me wrong, i think the northeast has some of the best teams in the world. however, a national championship brings bigger bragging rights with it than a battlecry3 wictory would

personally i dont think bragging rights can come from just winning any one competition

winning competitions over and over is a cause for bragging rights.... being undefeated for long stretches like all of the qualifying matches, or all of the final matches.... beating one of the top teams (i mean fairly, if they break down or lose power its not the same... unless they broke down because of your teams actions)... or beating any team directly... or doing something out on the feild that makes people go "wow"

nationals are awesome, so much fun... but i have to make the point that its almost too big and too based on luck because there are so many unbelievable robots.... the best doesnt always win, its about the best strategy, the best partner, best driving, etc...
not that it wouldnt be nice to win...but i can understand why the summer competitions and regionals mean more to people......... even at the regionals, so many teams just arent ready.... theres always a little tweaking to do

I agree...

The reason why I think Battlecry will be better then Nats at least for us is that every round your going to be facing stiff competition. Now you go into Nationals and you look at the team list of 72 and you can count on maybe one hand the teams that your concerned about. When you go into Battlecry and look at your matches there is not going to be one easy match. That's why I think whoever wins Battlecry deserves alot of respect and in my opinion more so then a National champion because they had to compete every round.

As for IRI JUST BRING IT!!!

Thumbs up I agree with Todd

At Battlecry 3 there is going to be some of the best teams on the east coast that means very stiff competition for all the other teams attending. I belive that it will be much more competitive than Nats just becasue I know that there are a few rivals attending i.e ( 151, 271) And Im sure there are many others. I think Battle cry is going to be the place to settle them all.

i definitly would like to win both nats and Battlecry and this rage is really strong and who know we may just be lucky enough to do just that. I think Nats gives you more bragging rights becuase it is so big. But battlecry gives you bragging rights in its own regard like the ability to say your the best of best in the northeast. And that is also a great honor because the northeast has so many skilled and tough veteran teams so it is really a toss-up between which i would prefer to win

I DUNNO...

Winning nationals gets u known to all other teams, u get "stuff", sponsors galore, get some more stuff, and some more sponsors!!
Not mentioning the gratification of knowing that u won with a robot built in 6 weeks (not modified over the summer) and...More sponsors!! I still can't imagine what it is like for a veterine nationals winning team to have sponsors actually fighting over them!! (not the other way around).
i would definitly rather win the nationals!
