Re: Programmable LED Badges 1501 had at BoilerMaker Regional

FYI:

Elston System has decided to sponsor a special price for the LED badges once again for 2005/2006. They have TWO deals now.

Deal #1 Original Badge with upgraded FIRMWARE called Version 1.1. It can be programmed with software in kit or HyperTerminal. This means you can connect this badge to a serial device and send ASCII to the badge. We have not tried to connect this badge to the IRC controller, but it might be a possibility.

Link:
http://shopv2.elstonsystems.com/prod...products_id/49
The price did increase $2 this year to $14.00 from last years $12.00

Deal #2 is a whole new upgraded badge that can store up to 16 different messages. Includes (2) batteries now in the kit and an IR transmitter. Transmitter must be located within 2 cm of receiver unit on the back of the badge. It can not be programmed with HyperTerminal nor does it support ACSII strings.

Link:
http://shopv2.elstonsystems.com/prod...products_id/59
This new version 2.0 badge is special priced at $16.00 for FIRST robotics.

Having worked quite a bit with serial communications on the RC for the CMUCam this year, I would say that anything you can do in HyperTerminal can be done on the RC. I can just picture capping a goal and having a little taunt scroll by the side of your robot...

Re: Programmable LED Badges 1501 had at BoilerMaker Regional

I only have two files on my disk.
Ledsend
ledbadge.csg

No LEDBadge.exe

Can run the program but can not load the program to the hard drive.

Do I need to get the LEDBadge.exe file from them or is there a way to load from the cd I have?

Thanks

Ledsend is an EXE file. The way we do it, is copy that file anywhere on your hard drive. Then double click that file from your hard drive. You can't double click and run the LedSend.exe from the cd-rom because the EXE needs to save the config file. So just copy and paste that ledsend.exe to your hard drive, then double click that ledsend.exe and you should be all set.

By the way, for those of you that don't know. ledsend.exe is in reference to version 2.0. I think version 1.1 has a setupb.exe file with a "normal" installer. But version 2.0 does not have a "setup.exe" installer. You just gotta copy the exe file from cd-rom to hard drive.

Re: Programmable LED Badges 1501 had at BoilerMaker Regional

The version 2.0 badge is $16.00 US, I don't know what that converts in Canadian. I think that's almost the same amount right?

Version 2.0 can do:
http://shopv2.elstonsystems.com/prod...products_id/59

Badge Stores up to 4000 characters, with 4 different scrolling speed settings.

16 Different Messages can be loaded into badge, and selected which message to display on the back.

Badge can be programmed WITHOUT software using input keys on the back of the badge.

Also now available. Re-chargeable CR-2032 Batteries with charger and two batteries.

Apologize for digging up an old thread, but, any chance there are still good deals out there for LED badges?

Re: Programmable LED Badges 1501 had at BoilerMaker Regional

Far as I know.

One requires a DB-9 serial port laptop or com port to program, the other has the USB to Serial already built into the programming cable.

If you have a laptop or desktop with a serial port, you can get the cheaper non-usb version.
