How to speed up the dc motor via BS2?

presently, i build a small surveillance robot with use of parallax basic stamp 2 microcontroller, when i plug my dc motor to it, i found that not enough faster the rotation of motor, got any idea to boost it up?
i suppose to modify the programming or add on a additional circuit?

If you are attaching a motor directly to the BS2 than you will damage the BS2. You need to follow the BS2 with a motor driver of some sort. There are many applications on the Parallax website for this.

Just for reference, how big is the robot? Knowing what scale we're dealing with can do wonders.

Are you using a servo modified for continuous rotation? Are you using a PULSOUT command? If so, what value is it at? You could always gear up the motor for extra speed but torque will be sacrificed.

really can damage the bs2, bcoz i am begineer to do that, i know parallax company provide many motor driver, but very costly, got other way to do that to save my cost...thank...

no, i direct buy a continuous rotation, can u give me more detail abot the programming code to speed up the rotation ro where have a relevant information to reference...thanks...

IGZ,
The BS2 cannot drive motor current, it must be followed by a motor driver. Sorry for the bad news. The BS2 outputs can only supply a few milliamps of current at a maximum of 5 volts. The motor will need much more than that even if it is a 5 volt motor. If you are only driving the motor in one direction, you may be able to get away with a power darlington transistor feeding the motor. Can you give us more specifics about the motor and your application? In the meantime, don't drive the motor with BS2 so you can save yourself the cost of replacing that item.

on this site somewhere is a link on how to make your own motor controllers, for smaller scale robots i would recomend this site, i have read the site autor's book and it makes everything very simple, a must for smaller scale robots
