Re: FREE Autodesk Inventor Training
Well I went to the training and all I can say is WOW! This training was such a great opportunity to be provided. Thank you Autodesk!
I can't believe more people didn't take this class. The two of us from 696 and a couple people from the site were the only ones there! I thought I knew quite a bit about Inventor but I still learned so much more. And Inventor 10, OMG this is the best piece of software I have come across in a LONG time. There is this new thing called "Design Accelerator" included that will make you gears and a bunch of other parts like iParts do but way better and it is all included in the install. And it has all sorts of amazing engineering calculators and formulas and everything. And now Stress Analysis is included! And the "Hole" tool is SO much better than in Inventor 8. And there is a new feature called Inventor Studio which will render a model to make it look more real and some other neat stuff (like simple animation). All I can say is, Autodesk - you're amazing. For those of you who didn't/don't attend one of these trainings, you are REALLY missing out. Please everyone, take advantage of this wonderful opportunity Autodesk has given you. If you think pencil and paper is good enough, or Autocad is good enough, just attend this training and become enlightened. Now, for the little sort of disclaimer. The training does start off really basic. But the tutorials are just excellent, and even though I considered myself a proficient user, I still learned a lot of new things, even in the basic areas like sketching. Re: FREE Autodesk Inventor Training
Unfortunately, they scheduled it on the same day as the SCRRF workshops. We will probably be putting in our reservations for the 2006 workshops this week. On the SCRRF end, the date was not changable by the time they announced the workshops.
I would have loved to go and would have except I had a few responsibilities at the workshops. I am thinking about a drive to Cupertino though ... Thanks for the review. I knew you were going and wanted to ask and see if the drive would be worth it. It sounds like it will be. |

Re: FREE Autodesk Inventor Training
In addition to scheduling issues there are also geographic barriers for many of us. Sorry to repeat from another thread ...
It is a shame that the training isn't available to a more geographically diverse group. Most of us won't have an opportunity to effectively utilize many of the enhancements. You really don't have the time to stumble through a new learning curve with that 6-week deadline bearing down. At a minimum an early distribution of the software would be a huge help. And some type of web-based sessions or tutorials would be greatly appreciated. The best way to improve the Inventor competition submissions would be to enable greater competency among the students. While the workshops provided this year are certainly incredibly helpful and very much appreciated, they will only reach a tiny minority of FIRST participants ... Hello ... FIRST and Autodesk ... Are you listening ?? ![]() Last edited by Stu Bloom : 14-11-2005 at 13:36. |

Re: FREE Autodesk Inventor Training
Sorry to repeat the question but I am very interested in attending, however I do not have any teacher that can go with me. Can I go by my self or maybe with another team mate? Did anyone see if they were letting the students participate without a teacher?

Re: FREE Autodesk Inventor Training
The instructor at the training I attended said the Official FRC Inventor 10 tutorials that are used in the trainings are available on Streamline/buzzsaw.

The attendance is a recommendation but if the classes are not filling up they will make exceptions. Contact them for the latest info on the training in your area. Never turn down a free educational experience. |
