Rules for inflatable objects...

I'm wondering if it would be against the rules for a team to have a large (20' tall) inflatable object either in the pits or in the stands. Does anyone know if teams are allowed to do this? Have/do any teams try this?

only if its your ego! :^)

In the past they have been very picky about stuff in the stands, for security reasons.

imagine if some wacko brought in a 20 foot inflatable mascot, and filled it with propane or something worse?

Well we were thinking about buying a 20' tall inflatable cow (since we are the holy cows) and filling it with just regular air, not propane, atleast nothing flamable, and putting the cow above our pits or above where we are sitting.

Re: Rules for inflatable objects...

Well, teams have had big inflatable things. 343's usually pretty easy to spot with their helium balloons that have to be this side of ginormous. However, that's their pit space. YMMV.

Re: Rules for inflatable objects...

I dont know if they are still available online, but all of the regionals had rules for what you could do, and what was not allowed.

maybe someone saved those files, or you might try searching CD for "regional rules" or something along those lines.

Back in 1998 the TechnoKats had a large inflatable T, but I don't know the ruling for more current years.

Re: Rules for inflatable objects...

I would say it could be a little annoying unless you are at a venue where there is alot of free space in the stands

Take note that the T-kat "T" was in the pits...now-a-days that would be near impossible.

On a lighter note, don't put away those inflatable cows yet! 2006 is a new year! We're obviously using inflatable clowns or inflatable Billfreds!

Maybe they'll let you have something inflatable in your pits!

Where did I go wrong? (shakes head)

To avoid going completely off-topic, I'd advise you to check with the 2006 manual once Kickoff hits. If you're still not sure, get on the FIRST Q&A.

...although I would suggest going a wee bit smaller on the cow. A twenty-foot tall cow is udderly insane.

But really, make sure you you check with the 2006 rule book when it comes out. Things change from year to year. Just check under the "inflatable cow" clause.

Re: Rules for inflatable objects...

there is a lot of consistancy from regional to regional, but each one publishes its own set of rules for attendance.

I dont think these come in the big manual, I think they are put up on the FIRST website as regional information.
