Just take the subway ...

3/4 of the NYC Regional teams are from NYC. Everyone takes
the subway. The most difficult part about taking the subway is
going home late after the parties.

BUT it is a big saving on bus and hotel cos. Some people,
mentor and teachers, drive because of equipments, tools, T-shirts, etc. They are not allow to drive any student to or from the
competition. (it's a school rule)

When our team went to the Grand Rapids regional we drove 2 and a half hours each way everyday on a bus. We live in canton. Ypsilanti is right next door (team 470, go Visteon! woohoo *cough* excuse me) and they are slightly closer but stayed in a hotel room. I think the whole issue is money. Our team didn't have enough money so we slept on the way home . There isn't anything wrong with driving or spending the night, but if you live right there (like we did for the Great Lakes regional) then you should prolly sleep at your own house and go by bus to the comp as a team.

Our plans are by no means final but we are in a similar situation as team 151. They're just down the road from us and we will of course be going to the Manchester regional next year. We've been talking about bussing up and back every day. A hotel would be an extra expense and a whole lot more work for me personally since I am the one who has to do room checks and wake up calls. I'd rather avoid that and see if we can make it to an additional regional instead.

Even at the KSC regional we have a 30min bus ride when we stay there, KSC is big and u cant stay close enough to have a short bus ride. I dont see why you cant just go meet at your school then go to the regional, just like almost all other school feild trips.
