Question attn. Hot team (or anyone who had a similar drivetrain)

Do you guys have technical drawings of your motor-wheel assemblies that you are willing to share with the community? We are looking into a similar all wheels have power and all wheels turn drivetrain this year and would really like to see what you did last year.

Thanks,
-Mark

Re: attn. Hot team (or anyone who had a similar drivetrain)

If i recall correctly, 67 used completely out of the kit (and slightly reinforced) Fisherprice Transmissions to turn. Yes the gearboxes with nylon gears, with about 3 brackets going through them for extra support since they are a tad flimsy.

As for the drive system itself they had a custom 1 speed transmission. It was set to go pretty fast and they also had the roughtop conveyor belt treads.

Thanks Beth. That saved me a lot of typing, I'd forgotten about that.
Check out the 'Mechanical' section of that site for info about the drivetrain.

Actually, not much of the drive system was kit, save for the motors and their gearboxes that rotated the direction of the turrets.
Here's a pic
The rear turret was exactly the same, except we used a globe motor to rotate it.

Any other specific questions, feel free to ask, and I will do my best to anwser them.

I know I have said this before by HOTS mechanical page is awesome. The information is very organized and well presented. Who ever wrote it deserves an award. I hope that more people continue to ask 67 questions as they are a model team.

Good luck all,
Drew

It is a good page. I would like some more photos though. I know they used CIMs for power but i'd like to see how they made the gearboxes.

The sections look pretty nice. (And the robots aren't bad, either.)

Out of curiosity, what size are the dubs on your robot from this year?

Or did you guys make gearboxes at all? did you just use a belt from the motor to the wheel. what was the final ratio?

In our photo album, under the Build section of this past year, there are lots of pictures, many of the robot from various angles. They may be of some help.

Re: attn. Hot team (or anyone who had a similar drivetrain)

Here are a few shots from the 'Build' Gallery that may help you guys with the overall pic of what's going on in the 'bot.

The wheels are powered by CIMs through a gearbox, I do not know the specifics about it, but it's complex.

Are you looking for just team 67's gearbox or would any one speed/two speed gearbox work for you? If you are looking for just a one speed gearbox, I suggest you to take a look at team 217's (Thunderchickens) 2005 gearbox. If you would like to use two speed gearbox, take a look at team 45's (Andy's transmission), team 229's (JVN's transmission), or team 716's (Andy Brockway's transsmission) . I am in the process of manufacturing this transmission, if you would like the cad files or would like to use this, you are welcome to. Good luck.

I am trying to make a prototype drivetrain in which all wheels have power and all wheels turn. Hot team did that last year. Any example of a gearbox that does this would be very helpfull.

Here are some photos of various Swerve bots throughout the years.

(CD-Media is really cool. Everyone, go tag some photos)

Also, here's a white paper on Team 1114's SimSwerve drive system from 2004.
