Re: girls: what's the lamest pickup line u've got from a guy at robotics comp?

i think i should keep the number for that handy. at the new jersey regional i was asked for my number so many times it became a running joke with quite a few people. it even went so far as for the times when i was asked to be labeled "awkward moment #1" and so on.. though this was halfway through the day on.. friday? i think?... after i was asked about three times in ten minutes.. so i think i only hit about 8 awkward moments. was interesting though. most of the time it was pretty straightforward, or after i'd been talking to someone for awhile, but i did get one that came over, started asking random questions about my team's bot... then in the middle of a question.. "okay so the real reason i came over here is because i think you're hot. can i have your number?". got a good laugh out of that one. let's see... random people that came up to me from one team saying this one kid on the team thought i was hot and wanted my number. i said tell him to come over himself and he could have it. a few minutes later another kid from the team walks over, "i'm sorry they told you i wanted your number, it was a dare between my friend and i,...::explains situation::. so we and the group of people i was standing with talk to the kid for a few minutes, and as he's leaving.. so, even though i didn't come over here for your number... you're really cute, and seem really cool... so can i have it anyway?" so i gave it to him, he walked back to his team, who'd been staring the entire time.. came back to talk a few minutes later. some kid from his team randomly walks by and yells "when you get a minute, tell me how you managed to get her number." lol, so random. i also had a cheering section on this one team (i was HP this year).. eventually walked over and asked how they knew my name, started talking to them.. they were pretty cool too. i apparently also had a fan club consisting of various guys from multiple teams, never caught a glimpse of them though.. they approached one of my teammates to ask about me. i also introduced myself to a few guys, from being bored, or whatever else... i still talk to most of them.

at nationals while walking through the pits with a friend from another team... a team mascot randomly ran over and gave me a hug. they had another person with them, who asked if i wanted my picture taken with the mascot. i consented, but it was a bit strange. what else to expect from FIRST though? =p. i got a few comments about my team's cart, which i was driving for awhile (basically a big box attached to a motor scooter type thing.. we're lazy and didn't want to have to push the bot)..but i don't recall what they were. oyy... i was asked to sign random items.. was lei-ed at least 4 times, and stopped and given random buttons and memorabilia from teams... idk. i'm sure i'm forgetting some interesting incidents. i have to say i've made quite a few new friends this year, and i'm glad to still be in touch with the majority of them =).

YOU. CARLY. LAST YEAR. ANNAPOLIS. yeah i remeber you and a few other girls in our hotel room at the radisson. we were playing halo and we are all just sitting around. then you went to take a shower and came back with just a towel on. it was weird because you or no one else said anything. i thought it was the coolest thing ever.

Re: girls: what's the lamest pickup line u've got from a guy at robotics comp?

i got one of the old ones used on me,

it was at LA regional last year, and it was team 22 and 188 cheering, and we got really warm cause it was beginning to crowd.. so one of the guys on our team started fanning the girls with a poster. this one guy from another team stood next to me and said, "is it hot in here, or is it just because im standing next to you?". it was soo cheesy!!

Never thought I'd hear a story that included me on CD, and I really can't believe this thread is still going!

Re: girls: what's the lamest pickup line u've got from a guy at robotics comp?

lol since i noticed this thread was active the other day, i figured i'd post on it since i just thought of an incident from last year. this is from the jersey regional, and i apparently used a pickup line on a guy, not the other way around. i was actually talking to him about how we first met, because i'm still friends with him.. and i was like hey is that considered a pickup line? and he's like yes it iss. so yeah, the following: we were both human players for our teams, and really bored standing in queue. i was tired of standing, so i went and sat next to him (not close, just like.. same general area =p) on the table he was already sitting on. and since i'd noticed earlier in the day while watching a match that he was a great human player, i basically just said, "hey. you're a great human player." and we started talking. i ended up talking to him for awhile that day, and exchanging screen names with him, and like i said before, we still talk. i've only hung out with him once outside of robotics, since he lives like an hour and a half away, but he's a really cool kid, and always fun to talk to. so yeah, i'm not really sure what my point in this was when i started typing, but i think it was just that i'll have to agree with a lot of people that posted previously in saying that honesty is the easiest. just say what's on your mind, or a simple 'hi,' or something of the sort. never fails =).

note to reader: please excuse my terrible grammar in the above ridiculously long paragraph.

I resent that. I, as a girl, wanted to join Robotix because I want to become a computer engineer. Not all of us girls are like that. Maybe some, but not all.

As for pick up lines from robotics guys , I havent gotten any yet but I've had like half the team tell me they like me.
