VexLABS' Newest Robot - a Vex Dodge Tomahawk

I don't know if anyone else saw the pictures on VexLabs, but VexLabs built a version of the Dodge Tomahawk out of only Vex parts. This is one amazing robot!

Here's the link: http://vexlabs.com/vex-tomahawk.shtml

EDIT: OMG, I am sorry!!! I saw this on VexLabs, so I thought it was built by JVN. But it was really built by Beener. Could a moderator could change the thread title from JVN to VexLabs? I didn't see the fine print my first time through. Wow, I feel like an idiot... Anyway, this is one amazing robot! Kudos to Beener for building this wonderful robot!

Re: VexLABS' Newest Robot - a Vex Dodge Tomahawk

This robot was built by Will Beene (Beener), one of the IFI Web/IT guys.
He came to my office after work every day for a few weeks to work on it.

This is a great example of what is possible with the Vex kit. Will has never used Vex before, but by experimenting with a few iterations, he managed to come up with something REALLY impressive. I think he built 3 full versions of this machine, before finally getting to the one shown.

Remember kids, Design is an Iterative Process.

Just how many Vex kits were used? and what addons?

I love my Vex kit but I find most of my ideas are limited by the lack of parts....I need a job...it took me several months just to get the power packs, then I obtained some extra hardware from a friend, nice stuff, but I still need more.

Anyone want to donate to a poor Vex Addict?

I'm a FIRST relic of sorts, I remember when we used PBASIC and we got CH Flightsticks in the KoP. In my day we didn't have motorized carts, we pushed our robots uphill, both ways! (Houston 2003!)

Totally awesome.

Yeah I'd love to see a side view as it tilts so we can see the servos in action.
