Top FIRST States 2006
In the annual arms race for top FIRST state so far Michigan and then New York and California .
So far it loks like Missouri has the most rookie teams, then Kansas and New York and Georgia . 912 teams so far. Growth seems alot slower this year than the last. Last edited by Koko Ed : 05-11-2005 at 11:46. |

Re: Top FIRST States 2006
Growth is slower since the economy has made it's mark once again and you can't grown unless the existing teams are sustained.

Re: Top FIRST States 2006
I thought team registration was ahead of last year.
915 teams so far this year to 849 last year at roughly this same time (as of 11/3/04). P.S. The Israel teams were listed this time last year and included in the count above, but this year none of them are on the registered teams list yet. We're dead even on rookies 125 last year and this year at this time. Last edited by Mark McLeod : 06-11-2005 at 21:19. |

Re: Top FIRST States 2006
1051 Registered teams
190 Rookies Several Regionals are light on attendance, however, if you just sum up all the pending (including overflow) there would only be about two dozen Regional slots open. (Discounting Israel since I think that is still closed to out-of-country registrations?) Three times this total in Championship slots are being left on the table. Even if you just add up all the un-requested Regional slots it's still less than the available Championship vacancies. I ran into a team at Brunswick Eruption this past weekend who hadn't paid any attention to Championship, because they assumed being Tier 1 they wouldn't have a chance of getting in. I corrected that impression with one team, but there may be many others who assumed Championship would be impossible to get into, and just haven't noticed it's so empty. Back to the topic... California just squeaked by NY, so it's now:

Re: Top FIRST States 2006
[edit] updated
1123 teams now registered. 222 Rookies (although I know of some teams that will probably have to drop out) The Israeli teams all added in at the same time. Regionals look like they are full or will be except for a few with 2 or 3 slots still open. The Championship still has 27 unrequested openings. As far as states go:

Re: Top FIRST States 2006
sadly, Virginia's growth seems to have slowed a little bit this year.
Only 9 rookie teams so far, and 59 total (we had 55 last year) as of yet. |

Re: Top FIRST States 2006
The number of UK teams has more than doubled for 2006...
If you try to look up the teams from the UK, you'll not find any unless you change it to look for Great Britain rather than GB. 759 continue at the NYC Regional for a 5th year. 2 teams from London, one from Winchester and another from Doncaster have also formed, bringing the total up to 5. At least 2 of those are down for Cheaspeake. Last years rookie London team, which apparently also went to Cheaspeake, does not appear to have signed up for a second year. So, UK Teams in: 2004: 1 2005: 2 2006: 5 I know we aren't a US State but I thought that'd be interesting. Last edited by JVGazeley : 03-12-2005 at 13:52. |

Canada has 69 teams. Brazil has 8 teams. and two teams from Puerto Rico (unfortunately Mexico has fallen out of FIRST and the team from France and Austrailia did not come back). It's good to see international FIRST doing so well. |

Re: Top FIRST States 2006
It's been almost a week since registration officially closed, but the registered team list continues to grow
(1137 teams total up from 1128 at Friday's close). California is the governmental entity with the highest number of teams (107). It'd be interesting to list places by the highest percentage of growth this year, such as the UK's 250% growth. (P.S. We have a signed Union Jack from 759's first year at NYC.) I just noted the dynamics after the close of registration. 14 teams have added in, mostly veteran teams registering late, and 5 teams (including some rookies) have dropped out. I assume the primary cause is finances, but FIRST is obviously being as helpful and understanding as they can. I expect 10 or so teams might drop out when they can't make the payment cutoff tomorrow. Re: Top FIRST States 2006
Anyone know where i can find the total list of teams.
By that I mean the list that has all the teams registered for this years game, and if they are attending more than one regional/nationals, they are repeated on the list. |
