Team 1022 has decided to do something different this year. Sadly we are not going to be able to compete in FRC and build the large robots.
But we are definately not taking the year off of FIRST and robotics. Instead we have started a VEX team at our school and seven other high schools in the area. We designed a game and gave each school a VEX kit. We'll have several competitions throughout the year and eventually have finals and a winner. Hopefully by next year or the year after we'll have all that we need to get back into FRC. We're hoping to bring some of the new people from the other schools into our FRC team next year with the experience they gained in our VEX this year. Some of the older members on our team will hopefully be at the Purdue Boilermaker Regional as volunteers. |

Re: Team 1022 not competing in FRC this year
im from team 1708, live just outside pittsburgh, and during the offseason of FIRST weve been having mini competitions within our engineering class, we have 6 VEX kits and we have learned alot from playing with the VEX. I hope your team learns alot from VEX and that you are able to recruit new people using it. Good luck with your competitions

Re: Team 1022 not competing in FRC this year
Jill,
Please let 1501, Huntington, Indiana, know about your VEX competitions. We have some Jr high kids that would LOVE to compete! Also, please let your students, mentors know that 1501 is only 20 miles away from Fort Wayne, and we will help out any way we can. If your students are interested in joining our team, they will have to signup as a 4H member in Huntington County, and we will take your students to the competition. Our goal this year is hotel rooms are covered by our team budget. Our kickoff event this year is at PHD, Inc. in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Please act fast, and your students can attend our kick off at PHD, Inc. Please PM me or IM me if you have other questions Please also don't forget about 1501 to compete in your VEX competition. ;-) |
