Lightbulb Idea: E-mail Exchange between Teams?

Just a thought i had a moment ago: there are many teams from our regional event I know absolutely nothing of, and even several veteran teams I have no contact with as well.... Perhaps the following idea has already been thought up of, so I would be interested in hearing on the results of similar attempts:

Would creating an e-mail exchange between teams (particularly those competing at the same regional event) be, at any extent, an interesting idea? For example, I was thinking of perhaps creating something similar to an e-card with brief, yet relevant information on our team (with greater focus on the social aspect, and not necessarily on the technical/robotics part), and the idea would be to distribute these e-cards to team leaders, mentors, etc. who would further forward them to other team members. All this with the objective of familiarizing with future alliances.

Not that it's any major advantage, but when i come to think of it, I, for one, know that if perhaps I had received a private e-mail message with interesting information on a team, I would at least remember their name at the Regional event. And I would certainly keep an eye on them just for that simple fact. Veterans may not find this "exchange" too useful, but for unknown rookie teams this may be at the least a bit beneficial, politically speaking.

It's just that several teams haven't got their website up and running...and many don't even plan on doing so. The least we could get is some info on their basic "profile".

I've got tons of other things on my mind regarding this E-mail Exchange, but I'd like to get some feedback at this point...particularly from those that have tried anything similar to this.

Thanks...
and best of luck to all teams this season!
