Hi guys!
I have a question about 3dsmax7 and pro desktop 7. And here it is: I made something in pro desktop and i want to move it to 3dsmax so i can make an animation from it. So, can i do it? and if i can, how? Thanks ahead, Amit. |

Re: need help with 3dsmax7 and pro desktop
Hi Amit,
I'm not sure what "pro desktop" is, but I assume it's a 3D software program. In Max click "File", "Import". You will see a list of many different 2D and 3D file types. Some of the more popular 3D formats are .3DS, .IGS, .WRL/,WRZ, .VRML, and .STL. Can pro desktop export any of those? |

Re: need help with 3dsmax7 and pro desktop
I believe a .STL export from ProDESKTOP will be your best option however you will lose any parametrics/associativity in your model (don't think you need that in 3DS anyway). Good luck!

Re: need help with 3dsmax7 and pro desktop
Ok, look. when I import a .STL file it shows me a message:
"bla bla bla design1.stl is not a valid *.STL file" This file was exported from autodesk pro desktop 8.0 in this way: File --> export --> browse --> choosing the file --> save --> ok. if you can help, pleaseeeee... Ok, now I tried a diffrent file type: *.IGS I exported it from pro desktop 8.0 in the same way and imported it in 3ds max. A simple object like a square was imported perfectly to 3dsmax 8, but when I tried importing a complicated structure like a base of a robot (which was built from several other designs which were connected to one design) it didn't import nothing. please, help. Thanks a head, animation team, 1578. Last edited by Amittt : 18-01-2006 at 08:06. |
