Summer Robotics Courses

I am a junior and have been looking both on ChiefDelphi and on the web for good robotics summer courses. However, I have been unable to find any one that really interests me and is the right length(around 1-3 weeks). Any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: Summer Robotics Courses

I have exactly what you are looking for.

WPI Frontiers is a program for incoming HS Juniors/Seniors to learn about Math, Science, and Engineering. I will spare you the marketing speak, it's all on their webpage.

I did it last summer with the focus on Mathematics, but they also have an option to do Robotics as the focus. I know Art Dutra, an active member of CD and VEX wizard, attended for the Robotics focus, which this year had VEX kits. Last year, they actually had a 'scholarship' for FIRST kids doing the Robotics focus. I'm not sure if that was a one year thing or not.

The program is 2 weeks long and you stay at WPI in Worchester, MA in the dorms. You meet a lot of other cool kids who are interested in neat things, and get to learn a bit over the summer. It's also a good way to get a little peek at what college life is like.

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

Yup, I believe the game changes every year, though. It was a 2-week camp. If you haven't worked with VEX and programming as much, I definitely recommend it.

Also, there's a camp at Case Western. It's given through the Center for Talent Development. The camp is actually an engineering course that would be given in college, and you get graded (depending on your high school, you can get credit for attending). Plenty of machining, CADing, CNCing, and budgeting goes on as you build a robot, and a competition is held at the end of the 3-week duration.
