Weather for the kickoff
Just a random observation, but has anyone else noticed that this is at least the 4th year in a row where the Northeast is expected to get slammed by a snowstorm or some other strange weather phenomena the night before/day of kick off?
I don't think we'll see the artic freeze that delayed the kickoff in 2004 when the NASA tv truck froze, but were looking at another snowstorm like last year when cars were just shooting off the highway on the way back from Manchester. |

Re: Weather for the kickoff
What northeast exactly? Recognizing that Laurel, MD is not really northeast, I searched Manchester, NH and found no chance of precipitation for the next week. Maybe farther north?

Re: Weather for the kickoff
Connecticut/Mass is what I was talking about. We had snow in the forecast at 7am today for Sat. I thought it extended into NH as well.
I pretty much meant New England though as to effect those going to the primary kick-off. |

Re: Weather for the kickoff
Manchester weather for Friday is:
Considerable cloudiness. Highs in the mid 30s and lows in the low 20s. Saturday: Snow showers at times. Highs in the low 30s and lows in the low teens. Looks like much better weather than the last few years. |

Re: Weather for the kickoff
My favorite weather site (you can change the city/zip in the upper LH corner) is calling for a reasonable chance of snow tomorrow and Friday in Manchester (with little accumulation) and a near perfect day on Saturday ...
Now here in Indy we can't count on the forecast any more than about 1/2 day out ... hoping they do better in the Northeast. |

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I am going to freeze! I only own a couple sweatshirts, no winter coat. Oh well, I didn't get to see snow for Christmas... If anyone wants to meet me in NH, I'll be the one shivering in a ball in the corner wearing the umbrella hat.

Re: Weather for the kickoff
http://www.thewmurchannel.com/weather/index.html the weather page for the NH news station weather. The other local forecasts are lumped in with Boston channels, so there's not as much focus on NH.
Even if the forecast said Sunny with a high of 80 degrees, I would still expect blizzard conditions at Kickoff. The weather's been rather iffy lately, I would definitely suggest at least bringing a jacket. ![]() You know, the best way for the out-of-towners to realize that NH is not one perpetual snowglobe would be to come visit RiverRage 10 next September! I've already heard about some pretty crazy stuff planned... |

Re: Weather for the kickoff
Why not just go to the National Weather Service ? Isn't this where all the news stations get their info., anyway? For added fun, you can click on the Forecast Discussion link on the right side and read the forecasters' official attempts to decipher the weather data.
For those flying in on Thursday, the weather doesn't sound all that nice to me. I call mixed rain and snow a mess. I sure thought it would be too cold for rain in New Hampshire at this time of year. |

Re: Weather for the kickoff
Looks like snow flurries Friday night here. Anything is probably better than the 4-6 inches of snow we got last year. GLR was also a snowy weekend. Snowed the morning of practices, and I think it was the 2nd night that it snowed really bad on the way home. It also snowed 4 inches the day I came home from Atlanta. Something about robotics correlates to snowfall in Michigan.

Coming in from Indianapolis, AND remembering the 8-12 inches on the ground the previous two times I was able to attend the Manchester festivities, I don't think a little snow and rain mix (less than 1" accum.) will be too bad - especially for January in NH. It's AMAZING how many suggestions the spell checker came up with for "schmancy" ... but I still like mine better ... |
