Favorite analog joysticks?

I see lots of threads about converting USB sticks to analog and serial o analog and such. What i dont see, however, is a thread about good analog production joysticks that people use & love. This is that thread. What are your preferences people?

Re: Favorite analog joysticks?

The FIRST universal favorite seem to be the CH Flightstick. However, thats not production anymore.

I love the 3 axis joysticks http://www.compuplus.com/i-Logitech-...r-froogle.html like you can twist it x y and z axis. I don't know wht they are called, but I remember I saw that one team had one of those.

They are nice. It saddened me when we threw away about 6 today.. none of them would center themselves.

Re: Favorite analog joysticks?

Are the flight sticks the ones that used to come in the kits? We still have a bunch that we've been using over the past couple years in order to avoid the ones they've been giving us in recent years. The new ones seems a little better but the older ones centered quicker without springing back and forth.

for Example: take a new joystick and push it all the way to one side and let it go. notice how much it bounces before resting. Imagine how ridiculous your robot would look reacting to the bounce.

of course having more buttons may come in handy, but i think drve control is number one when it comes to picking a joystick.

Re: Favorite analog joysticks?

Anyone know where a team could pick up a CH Flightstick or 2?

I just scoured ebay and found two of them, and one was in australia. They are definitely an endangered species, probably thanks to the fact that a lot of FIRST teams snatched up whatever ones were left when they went out of production.

In addition to the centering problem, the new joysticks suck because they only work with the right hand. This makes tank drive a huge pain in the butt.
