Slope of ramp

Does anyone have any idea how to get up? I mean 30 degrees may not sound like a lot but we measured our previous bot and looked like it would not make it all the way up and when they kill the power it would roll back down the ramp.

Re: Slope of ramp

Keep in mind there is a platform behind the ramp, so you shouldnt have to still be on it when the power turns off.

Re: Slope of ramp

i believe if you are at least on the slope with the whole or part of the robot it still counts as being on the platform

Re: Slope of ramp

Getting up the ramp easily is certainly not something every robot can do. If you have 4 wheels, you'll need some center clearance. If you have six wheels, you may not. 30 degrees is steep too, so tipping over is concerned. You may want a long robot so you won't tip over, however it will be more difficult to turn.

For approach and departure angles, you can make your wheels the frontmost and backmost thing on your robot so there is no frame to hit the ramp before the wheels do. However you may start riding up on the balls.

It is all about tradeoffs.

Re: Slope of ramp

<G09> "... If a ROBOT is entirely on an ALLIANCE PLATFORM and is touching another ROBOT that is not entirely on the ALLIANCE PLATFORM, it still is considered on the platform..."

If a robot is off the carpet but not entirely on the platform, does this mean that it has to be touching another robot that IS entirely on the platform in order to count? Or does this rule mean that if a robot is on the carpet but is touching a robot that is entirely on the platform, it counts as being on? I'm a little unsure...

I apologize -- I misread your post. The rule states that a robot that is not touching the carpet and is, thus, on the alliance platform continues to be on the alliance platform even if touched by a robot that is not on the platform. A robot that is touching the carpet and also touching a robot on the platform does not count for bonus points.
