Turret Supplies?

I'm inquiring about various sources of parts to build a turret. I'm talking about large gears, turntable bearings, and maybe light/cheap slewing rings. We are considering using an automatic transmission flywheel, but it's rather heavy and we don't know the pitch of the gears. Does anyone know of a source for aluminum automatic transmission flywheels and their pitch?

Re: Turret Supplies?

Turntable bearings? Come on, ghettify! Put a couple casters on a disc and put them in a raceway on your robot. Then put a torus above it with casters mounted on it. It may be heavy but it'd win the ghetto (er... low budget) engineering contest. (FIRST should have one)

Re: Turret Supplies?

Home Depot sells some really cool turntable bearings that are used for lazy susan style cabinets. Just go to the cabinets are and ask someone.
