Re: Air gun length
Thanks, but I ment after the game starts, not at the first measurments.
Isnt there a 60" limit or something similar while playing? |

What makes you think that it is legal to make an airgun at all? Regards, Mike |

Re: Air gun length
Generally speaking about shooting mechanism, not air gun as a specific, sorry about misleading you.

Re: Air gun length
It must fit into the original space of 28x38x60. I suppose that if you put the gun at an angle in that virtual box, you could get a gun longer than 38", longer than 60" actually. But no, the gun cannot extend outside the original robot footprint, if thats what you mean.

Re: Air gun length
Guys, I've copied this paragraph:
The_Robot.pdf 5.3.2.1: Robot Size "<R08> Once a match begins, robots may extend horizontally beyond the 28-inch x 38-inch starting size under their own power, up to a limit of 60 inches in either horizontal cardinal dimension. The robot may not exceed the 60-inch height restriction at any time during the match. In other words, after the start of the match the robot may expand up to a maximum volume of 60 inches by 60 inches by 60 inches. The one exception to the height restriction is provided in Rule <R13>. Any restraints (elastic bands, springs, etc.) that are used to maintain starting size must remain attached to the robot for the duration of the match." |

Re: Air gun length
Your cannon would be a part of your ball throwing mechanism. Therefore, your cannon can not exceed the 28" x 38" x 60" starting envelope. Please see this thread in the FIRST Q/A for further clarification.

Why does <S03> win here? 2 reasons: 1) It's a limiting agent on <R08>, and 2) It's a safety rule and will be heavily enforced. |
