Camera Short Circuit?

Hi, Any Help of this would be appriciated

Our team has been trying to hook up our Camera using the pan and tilt setup
supplied with the electronics kit. During the building of it we misread the instructions and didn't use washers in between the Camera and the metal holding it. Our Camera won't turn on now, and we think it is because it has shorted out. Does anyone have any idea if we are right in this assuption?

Should we just get a new Camera?

Thanks

Re: Camera Short Circuit?

It is possible that the camera is shorted, but don't assume that yet. Do the following checks after you install the washers on the assembly.

1) Without connecting the Power PWM cable, verify that the RC has a fully charged 7.2 V battery connected.
2) With the RC powered on, using a DVM, verify that 7.2 Vis available on the PWM connectors on the RC. If not, replace the fuse in the RC.
3) Connect the PWM cable to an unused PWM connector on the RC and verify that 7.2 V is present on the Male pin end of the cable. If not, replace the PWM cable.
4) Plug in the PWM cable to the camera power connector, correctly oriented. Turn the camera on by sliding the power switch up.
5) Green light on camera? In not, your camera is most likely dead.

Re: Camera Short Circuit?

Thanks for the help. We checked it out with the voltmeter and it seem that though the Camera is getting power, the actual chip has been fried. Guess we need a new one now.

Is there a chance you still have the 2005 camera? You can use it to continue development until a replacement arrives.
