Any recommendations on where to stay? Which hotels are the closest to the competition? Any within walking?

There is a Sleep Inn & Suites 1/2 mile from the field house. It is a fairly new hotel. There is also a Burger King across the street from where the hotel.

The hotels listed in THS are in Downtown Grand Rapids and Downtown GR is about 25 miles from the campus.

Correction, The mileage that I stated earlier from downtown to the campus was per Mapquest which took the scenic route. If you take M45 or Lake Michigan Drive straight due west of downtown it should only be 10-15 miles tops.
