Exclamation AHHH! I'm a lost newbie! I need help!

I have been trying to get the camera to work for a few days. The only led that comes on is green, and I think it is the power one. I have gotten the camera to center itself by plugging the servos into pwm output, that's it. grrr, I feel like everyone has figured this out but me.

I need more info mainly on the TTL port. I am clueless as to how to set that up.

I know this might be a lot to ask but could someone make a quick schematic on paint of all the connections you need to get the camera to work? I have not found any good solid and simple info or diagrams in any documentation, so I think that would be REALLY HELPFUL to a lot of people!

I know that is a lot so thanks for all your help in advance!

Hopefully this will help. Ground is always marked with a little "B" on the TTL converter and the FRC/EDU boards.

I apologize for the crudity of this model...

Thank you soooooooooooooooooooooo much!!!

This may be a stupid question, but what what wire(s) to you use to go from the TTL converter to the TTL port on the FRC? And also, on that chip I only see three prongs to connect to the camera. How does it connect to the RC? I don't see any female connections.

To connect the TTL Converter to the RC, just attach the converter to the pins on the RC. I can't think of any cable that you could use to connect from converter to RC offhand. There's a three pin female connector on the camera to the right of the serial port that you use to hook PWM cable from the camera to the TTL converter.

Look closer. The female connections are on the side of what appears to be a solid black square. The whole board stands on edge on the RC TTL pins.

Question Re: AHHH! I'm a lost newbie! I need help!

Ok. off topic, but how would I be able to stop giving the camera feedback while holding down a controller button? In other words, I want the camera to stop searching/tracking while holding down a button on a joystick. How?

Re: AHHH! I'm a lost newbie! I need help!

Somewhere, there is a disable_camera function. It's probably not called that, but there is one thta performs that duty. Simply call it when you want to disable the camera. A more complete answer should be posted soon, by someone who knows more than me.

Re: AHHH! I'm a lost newbie! I need help!

Just closing out the original issue in case anyone else has had a similar problem.
It turns out the green light only problem was a result of the camera board being shorted to the aluminum gimbal plate.
They understood the camera board had to be insulated from the aluminum so they wrapped it with electrical tape before attaching the board, but they didn't have all three spacers called for in the mounting directions installed. The sharp points of solder on the back of the board poked through the electrical tape and made contact with the aluminum backing.
No permanent damage was done, everything works now.
