I agree. I like the very clean look that it has, and how it remains consistent.

If I were to change one thing, I would try to eliminate the side scrolling on the build season picture galleries.

Re: 538 Website

A couple things.

I would suggest making the left frame a little less wide, and the top a little smaller (if possible), perhaps by making the font smaller. Or, the two images and heading could be made just small enough so that the heading fits on one line. The main frame is large enough for the content, but it's hard to comfortably navigate the site.

Also, the website doesn't really have any information about what your team is and what FIRST is...if I didn't know any of that and I visited the site, I would only be able to get the idea that you have a robotics team that builds a robot.

A paragraph about FIRST and a short paragraph about the team (in addition to whatever is on the history page) would be enough to give visitors some idea of what they're looking at.

Aside from that, I would agree that it looks very clean and consistent. It's organized well and intuitively.

Yea I would have to say hes right. Its always cool to have a history of your team that others can see.

Yes Very clean and well organized

Re: 538 Website

Thanks

The history is being put together. But I went a head and posted the link to get some input from other people. As always I seem to the mistakes after the fact. But I planned to fix them thats what counts.

Again thank you for your comments.

Re: 538 Website

First thing I noticed was the length it took for that picture on the home page to load. Looked at the pic by itself, and it happens to be 3000x2400 pixels. =0 Along with using the height/width img tags or whatever you may have used to make it smaller, I'd suggest making the image itself smaller.

Other than that, your forum has like 20 forums. Personally, when first starting a forum, I find it easier to just have the bare minimum forums. Makes getting chat going a lot easier. I usually go with a forum for people to chat about whatever, one/two to chat about robotics, and maybe a few more for whatever else you might like: Rules, Announcements, etc. But that's just me.

Thank you Mike for the comments about the forum. My name is Chris Sorrells (aka Aristeo), and I am the administrator/owner of the forum. I regret to inform you that I am a freshman, and have no working knowledge of FIRST, nor any of the actual parts of the competition. I do, however, have a lot of knowledge in programming and web design, and I have made and am hosting many different forums and websites with several users, which the experience has allowed me to get the forum up to this point.

If you could point me in the right direction of what a "good" forum layout looks like, it would help me a lot. My team is happy just by the fact that we have a forum, but I would like every aspect of our forum to be the absolute best that it can be at this point.

I've redone the forum groups on it, tell me what you think ..

Aristeo
