[UFH]: Thank Your Mentor Day!

According to the calendar, today is Thank Your Mentor Day! I plan on taking part in this little holiday, and you should too.

I want to thank my fellow mentors on #1720: Cheryl, Mike, Mark, Brad, Alan, Paul, Steve, Kurt, Brian, and Rick for doing such a bang up job with this new rookie team. That also includes fellow college mentors (Kevin, Andrew, and Jess).

And of course the mentors that got me enthused in the program in the first place: Mr. Bill, Marcy, Brian, Darrell, Cis, Richard, Judi, Randy, Dee, Tom, Jody, and Joe. I still have great team pride in my former team.

/edit: I also remembered this later... I want to thank Matt and John for their patience in teaching me to drive a stick shift. If there ever was a definition of 'mentoring', it would have been this situation. I now know what a clutch does and how the gears mesh and (in theory) how I (should) drive a stick, even though there was crying and driver-changing going on. Both of them are patient enough to teach me technical things, and that says a lot about their patience.

So who are your mentors, and why should you thank them?

This exercise in thanking the hand that teaches you brought to you by the Unsung FIRST Heroes Award. Have you thanked your mentor lately?

Re: [UFH]: Thank Your Mentor Day!

I thank my very first mentor at my first job, Lorraine, who had the patience of a saint. And I thank all the mentors on FRC 173 from whom I learned a lot; and Jenny Beatty and Cheryl Miller who listened to my endless questions and frustrations and helped to start NEMO. I thank the FIRST Senior Mentors Jenny, Mike, Steve, Rich and Paul who, along with their counterparts will NEVER receive enough thank you's for all they do. And thank you's have to go out also to Jess and John, to Andy, and to Brad. I've been fortunate to have met a lot of mentors over the last 5 years and I've learned from each one of them.
THANK YOU FOR DOING WHAT YOU DO!

Re: [UFH]: Thank Your Mentor Day!

There are a lot of mentors I would want to thank so I want to thank all those people who have helped me in any way over the past few years and give a special thanks to Mr. Cokeley just because he has gone way beyond what he is suppose to do for the team.

Re: [UFH]: Thank Your Mentor Day!

I want to thank all the incredible mentors we have here in Maryland. We have dozens of mentors who are mentoring rookie teams this year AND THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN A FIRST EVENT! We have mentors, including lots and lots of teachers, who are overworked and under-loved and now know enough to joke "it's only 6 weeks..."

I met dozens of mentors/coaches at our FLL state tournament on Sat. They are doing something right as there was so much good karma on that day with the teams. There were hundreds of kids who spontaneous gave a standing ovation to the director's award winning team. It gave me goosebumps.

And a special hug to my old team, Team007, who gave me a corsage tonight and some sweets at their "Tea with the Robot and thank your mentor day" open house.

Re: [UFH]: Thank Your Mentor Day!

We gave a shout out in school for our mentors and sent e-cards.
Team 1446 wishes to thank each of our mentors for their dedication. We also want to thank the US FIRST mentors who give freely their time, energy and resources.
