Then I have an HP Pavilion but it's currently dead right now. It's a 533MHZ P3, 256MB, 30GB and has 98SE on it.

The computer I'm on now is a built computer with a 500MHZ AMD K-6, 256MB, 20GB and 2000 Pro.

Then there's also my oldest still running computer that's also still part of my home network as is all the above computers. It's a built 233MHZ P1, 256MB, 4.3GB with 98SE.
Here's an update

In the time since I last posted I won 3 computers that my company was auctioning off. I just took the 3 home plus two others that I got for $5 each. They upgraded many of the computers (desktops) that were in the offices. With all the old ones piling up they decided to auction them off with the procedes going to the local food bank. They were a mixed lot with different manufacturers, models, and some custom built ones. They were all functional when removed from service. They did wipe the harddrives before the auction but they included any original system driver and operating disks that came with the computers.

Here's what I won:

Intergraph TD 260 (Technical Desktop).........PII 400MHZ, 128MB, 6.6GB, and has disks for Windows NT. I won two of these computers and they have the exact same specs.

HP Brio BA200...........Celeron 433MHZ, 160MB, and has the disks for 98SE. I also won two of these, one has a 7.5GB harddrive and the other has a 4GB.

HP Brio model unknown............PII 300MHZ, 64MB, 8GB, and has the disks for 98SE.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with all of them but for the fact I paid as little as $5 for some of them I'm not going to complain. While they won't support today's gaming they are more than adequate to browse the web or run Office.

I did decide to part out one of the Intergraphs and one of the HP Brios. One of each is no longer functional as I took the hard drive from one and put it in the other to have dual hard drives and more space. I also did the same thing with the memory sticks.

I love the laptop.

So far haven't had a single problem with it, and it runs so much smoother than my desktop pc in almost every aspect except gaming. (Well, obviously - it's just a laptop) - Though not saying you can't game on it; it runs Half-Life 2 and BF2 just peachy.

The dual core really makes things much nicer for multitasking... And it more than compensates for the lower clock speed in almost all cases. Along with the two gigs of ddr2 ram, it's handled everything I can throw at it. I usually have a ton of processor and ram intensive apps open at once, no problem, no slowdown. I just wish windows would have some method of allocating processes to a certain core automatically instead of having to do it manually.

As far as battery life goes, I got about 3 hours of life out of it. After about now 60 or so charge cycles i'm down to about 2 to 2 and a half but I'm not complaining, it's good for what it is. *I keep the processor at full speed and I have the x1400 set for best performance, not for best battery life, as well as keeping the WiFi on whenever the laptop's on.*

It's not the lightest thing out there, but it's not as heavy as say, an alienware laptop. My one complaint is that I hate hate hate hate hate TFT's... They're magnets for airborne particles and with me using this in the shop and at home with two longhair cats, I really wish I could swap it out with an LCD. I'm also yet to find a way to get rid of the streaks caused by moisture getting onto the screen from when I tried wiping some cat fur off the first day, but that's really all I don't like about it. For $1,500 i'm very happy with it.

And to think, I was going to buy a macbook pro instead, with 512mb of ram and an 80gb hdd for $500 more than I got this baby for.

Re: What speed(s) are your computers

My home computer:

Gateway Select PC
648 Mhz AMD Athlon
320 MB RAM
Originally had just a 10 GB HD, but this past summer got a trashed but great condition 20 GB HD for a total of ~ 30 GB.
CD-ROM
CD-RW 16x/12x/40x
3.5 in Floppy (though since I've gotten a flash disk, I haven't had a use for it, which is sad. I love floppies.)
Windows XP Professional

In short, fairly close to a minimalist machine, but its being ran to its maximum potential. I do not intend on getting another 'new' PC until it is absolutely necessary.

1.8 GHz Intel Celeron Processor
320 MB RAM
3.5 floppy drive is currently out of commission

That's all I can remember off the top of my head (I'm on a school computer right now, so I can't easily check).

Re: What speed(s) are your computers

Yeah, my computer's aging... don't really have the funds to update it though.
2.53 Ghz P4 proc (only 533mhz bus!!)
512 mb ram (my mobo only has two slots!)
9800 pro (only reason I can play Homeworld 2, Rise of Nations, KOTOR 2...)
and, /*drumroll*/
a broken floppy drive!! Yay!
However, my sound system is killer - Audigy 2 ZS and a Logitech 680 system.

Probably not the fact that it's a laptop but I know SOMEONE out there has a desktop that can beat my laptop!

I gave up on buying bleeding edge in highscool. I realized that there were better things to spend my money on, like car payments.

Do you have any pics or links to pics of this laptop and its components?
