Re: pic: Team 836 Teaser # 2
Wow that's the coolest transmission I've seen this year, a standard kit with a bolt on gearbox. Innovative and resourceful.
I really want to see this work, and I really hope you give us a white paper to chew on. |

Re: pic: Team 836 Teaser # 2
We hope to have a white paper done most likely after build season when we can find the time to make an accurate one.
Some general info: 2 speed neutral and a brake system We are planning to use 2 Cim motors depending on weight, right now we are doing everything we can to lighten the whole thing like using these gears and hopefully we can take out even more weight on the bolt on by shaving down the front and back plates. By the time we get done the whole assembly with out the cims should weight somewhere between 5-8 Lbs. |

Great Idea, if you have limited machining capabilities/funds; however, it looks pretty heavy and it is pretty big in size.
I guess you will have to see what we have up our sleeves... |

awesome transmission. very resourceful. my question is do you really need a neutral? maybe you do, but i am not sure. i would be afraid of getting stuck in neutral and then you can not do anything. am i wrong? i love the parking break incorporated though. great idea!

Quote:
We are only going to use the neutral to be able to push the robot around in between matches. The shifter will be spring loaded so as soon as the gears are lined up it will slip into high or low, so unless the spring fails we *shouldn't* have a problem with being stuck in neutral. The parking brake is going to "set" at the end of the match as a default so if we are say half way up the ramp we won't roll back down much like putting a car into park on a hill. Then at the end of the match we will disengage the brake into neutral. Last edited by Bcahn836 : 05-02-2006 at 15:48. |

Re: pic: Team 836 Teaser # 2
We did that last year, but ours was a lot smaller than that because we used gears we had originally purchased when we made our version of the tecknocats 2-speed shift on the fly in 2004. There should be pics posted from last year.
