Go to Post There's a stark difference between bragging and taking pride in your work. While "Ha ha! We're better than you! We won seventeen regionals and you didn't!" would clearly fall in the former, listing your achievements would definitely fall in the latter. - artdutra04 [more]

Re: Question:Reputation.

I highly doubt I will be the first to post something since there is 4 other people on the page. But I'm going to take a shot at it anyway.

Here is a link to a post that explains how people can give it out and what not : http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...82&postcount=4

If you like (or dislike) someone's post, you click on the little scale at the top right of the post. This brings up a little window with three options and a blank. Choose the rep option you want to give (positive, neutral, or negative), then type your reason into the blank. Submit it. I'm not sure of limits on how much you can give or when you can start giving it, but they are there. I also don't know how the little green (or red) boxes are configured.

anyone can click on the little scales icon on the upper right of any post, and give + neutral or - rep for a post.

Once you give someone rep points, you have to give rep points to a certain number of other people before you can give it to that person again.

People with lots of + rep points have more influence (impact) when they give you rep.

The idea is for the forum to be self-monitoring to some degree. If someone tells you its a good idea to short out your battery with 6 gauge wire when you are not useing it, and you look over and see they have 5 red squares (negative) then you take their advice with a grain of asprin.

Genrally speaking, negative rep should only be given to someone who's post or behaviour is unacceptable, not simply because you dont like what they say, or dont agree with it.

Re: Question:Reputation.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the amount of rep you can give is based on your post count, not on your current rep. And, if you have less than 50 posts, you can't give good or bad rep.

If you read the post that I linked to, it tells you how much rep points you can give out based on your post count; how long you've been on CD; and what not.

[edit]

So no one actually has to click the link, i'll just qoute the post that's qouting another post

User can give 47 reputation clicks over each 24 hour period.
User must give reputation to 15 people before they can hit the same person again.
So that's half of the battle...
