Re: crunch time

we are almost done. All the tests have passed and now we are just modifying and practicing at the same time. Right now programmers are playing around with the autonomuos code, camera code and also control board. Other than that, out mechanical team sits around and pray for somethign to break so they can work, and our spirit team is getting ready to make banners and stuff for the competitions.

Re: crunch time

Our robot is coming along nicely. Where getting things together and should be up and driving around by Saturday for Swamp thing scrimmage or so my team hopes. Custom making wheels, chassis and gearbox is a lot to do in 6 weeks . Anyway 1251 reporting we should be coming up with the final product right around the corner. Can't wait can ya ?

Good luck,
Drew

Yeah, I recently discovered that one. Well, we are doing custom gearbox and chassis and wheel hubs. We always have, but this year we are way behind.

So my answer to "how far is your robot" is probably still "what robot?"

We have a frame welded. We have lots of shooter and turret parts machined, we have lots (but not all) gearbox parts machined. And we have a conveyor prototype and a basket prototype. The basket, delivery system, and conveyor have not started real production yet. Hopefully we'll finish gearboxes tomorrow. We'll see. We have nothing assembled yet for the real thing except our welded frame.

Re: crunch time

We have the frame done, with gears and wheels mounted. The electronics pretty much done (might need to add a Victor and a spike or two). The shooter/turret works. The loader works (that was fixed today... belt problems are no more). Still have to get the ball picker-upper running, add some "armour" and bumpers.

Fortunately we are under weight... well under weight... so far. May even add a pneumatics system for ballast.

Jason

What shifters? Did somebody say shifters? Do we have pictures of these? I may be able to offer advice if you describe the problem.

Yeah, we are in exactly the same situation. A whole bunch of prototypes and bar-napkin-scribbles, not a whole lot of robot. Fortunately though, the operator interface and electronics board are done (they were my job), and the chassis is driveable. We can be a very effective waterbug if we don't accomplish anything this week.

EDIT: This is my 128th post! That's 10,000,000 in binary!

Re: crunch time

I am proud to say that Team 1712's robot is in full operating condition. Everything mechanical and electrical wise is finished and pretty much final, and we are currently in the testing and practicing stage. There are a few things that came up that we have to tweak a little bit, and i'm sure that a few more are going to come up before ship, but it doesn't look like we're going to have to go into panic mode to get the bot finished. A little code optimization and mechanical tweaks here and there and we should have our pretty much final robot and code.

Re: crunch time

Our robot has a chassis and drive system, a conveyor belt to pick up balls, and a shooter. We still need a way to actually get balls from the conveyor to the shooter, and we don't know if the shooter rotator will work (or how well we'll even be able to control the speed of the shooter). The control board is completely done, electronics I think is almost done (need sensors). Programming is done with manual control (which means code is written, but still has to be tested and not work 5 times), and autonomous is nearing a testable state.

Unfortunately, when we put everything we have built and everything we thought we'd have on the robot, we're pretty much at weight with the battery. A few of us are trying to think of any way possible to cut the pneumatics out of the system; I think there's little chance we'll be able to put enough holes in the robot to set up our whole ball movement system still.

Almost done with the prototype, currently building the competition robot which is a little over 50% done.
